The South Korean company Hyundai quite regularly carries out planned restyling of its most popular cars of different classes, however, last year’s world premiere of the Hyundai Santa Fe 2022 crossover was associated, first of all, with the relative fiasco of the previous generation of the model, which was squeezed in the market not only by a direct competitor — «Kia Sorento», but also «big brother» — «Hyundai Palisade».
As a result, the new body was seriously refreshed, having moved to a new «trolley», the interior became much more comfortable for both the driver and passengers, and the engine line was seriously redesigned.
Hybrid power plants have also appeared, but such vehicles will not reach Russia. However, even without them, the novelty has every chance to restore its former popularity due to an improved combination of cost, quality and practicality.
Appearance
Even from the photo, it can be argued that the appearance of the new crossover is its strong point.
The look turned out to be surprisingly harmonious, and a large number of ultra-modern air intake elements, relief and lighting technology add charm to the conceptually verified unity of beauty and practicality.
The most interesting is the front end of the Hyundai Santa Fe 2022. It is set at an average height for a crossover, but rather long and high.
The sloping windshield turns into a ribbed bonnet that slopes towards the road, the middle part of which rises somewhat above everything else.
The anterior optics consists of two swept and almost rectangular segments located one above the other.
The headlights are visually divided into segments by LED daytime running lights and contain LED filling.
The radiator grille has received a new three-dimensional pattern in the form of a chrome mesh with a large mesh, a large company logo in the middle and a chrome curved strip slightly lower.
Then the body kit begins, the muscular transitions of which emphasize the trapezoid of the additional air intake, and also contain a platform for the number and slots on the sides for air access to the front brakes. Everything ends with a narrow protective layer under a wide, chrome-painted «lip».
The profile of the new model looks brutal, and this feeling is created by the steep roof lines, emphasized by the roof rails, rather large, strict-shaped windows in chrome edging, as well as the relief that begins with smooth transitions and ends with chopped edges in the area of \ u200b \ u200bthe sills and huge wheel arches with protective overlays.
The look is complemented by chrome plastic trims just above the sills, slightly protruding door handles, as well as large exterior mirrors with turn signal repeaters in any configuration.
At the rear, the car boasts a large lip spoiler that hangs over the tilted glass, the main part of the door with embossed Hyundai style and stamping to match the number, and large marker lights in the form of stars, connected by a thin LED strip.
A similar strip runs through the entire width of the body kit, separating its upper part from the black-plastic diffuser, which has a place for a pseudo-air intake slot, a powerful protective plate at the bottom and a rectangular exhaust system on the right.
Salon
Inside the new Hyundai Santa Fe 2022 model year, good finishing materials are used, including genuine leather, fabrics, plastic and metal inserts. Additional options for the entertainment system and significantly redesigned seats are designed to increase the degree of ease of movement on the crossover.
Front design
The car’s dashboard looks very massive, but there are not so many elements here. The three-spoke steering wheel has retained its comfortable shape and has slightly increased the number of buttons and joysticks on the sides of the center section.
Immediately behind it is a classic-type dashboard with a tachometer and speedometer, as well as a slightly grown on-board computer in the middle.
To the right of the instrument panel flaunts the widescreen tablet of the entertainment system familiar to fans of the brand, and just below — a line of different-sized ventilation deflectors.
After them, the already noticeably raised central tunnel begins with climate control units, music and a technical panel with a transmission twist.
At the back of the tunnel there is a convenient organizer, a place for wireless charging of gadgets, a cup holder, and an armrest with a cooled glove compartment.
Seats and luggage compartment
By default, the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe is five-seater, and each seat will be significantly more comfortable than on the previous generation car: with a soft padding, covered with good leather and a very comfortable shape.
The set of basic options, including lateral support, heated front seats and mechanical seat adjustment, remained the same, but there was noticeably more space in front of each seat.
As well as the trunk of the SUV has grown: a test drive showed that now in the stowed position more than 630 liters of luggage will fit in it, whereas before this figure was 12 liters less.
Specifications
The heart of the Hyundai Santa Fe 2022 in the initial version will be a 2.5-liter gasoline aspirated with a return of 180 «horses».
A six-speed automatic machine will go with him. The 2.2-liter turbodiesel will show 199 forces, and in tandem there will be an eight-speed robot.
Both of these engines have been significantly improved, in contrast to the top-end aspirated six-cylinder 3.5-liter, which passed from the previous model without changes.
Its 249 forces will transmit forces to the wheels using the same 8-speed automatic. But the drive will only be complete for any version.
Such characteristics will provide the car with good acceleration and good off-road capabilities with a relatively modest fuel consumption.
Options and prices
As before, the new product will be supplied to the domestic market in four trim levels. Unfortunately, the cost of the car has seriously increased: in the «base» it will be almost 2.48 million rubles, while the price of the most advanced copies will come close to 3.3 million rubles.
Sales start in Russia
The capacities of the Kaliningrad plant Avtotor are already ready for the release of the updated crossover, so the issue of the release date of the car in Russia is no longer relevant: it will appear in car dealerships in early summer 2021.
