JAC J7 2021: a multi-profile sedan with a liftback body.

In the corporate model range, the mid-format front-wheel-drive sedan JAC J7 2021 has flagship status.
The new model offers a list of new design and technological solutions, in particular, a modern body design, a stylish and fairly comfortable salon interior, nominal traction and consumption characteristics of the engine for its price level.

The asset of the novelty is an affordable cost, as well as a full-fledged restyling, which had a positive effect on the modernization of technical equipment, electronics and the expansion of the functionality of standard options.

Exterior

In the exterior of the sedan and the design of the five-seater saloon, the features of the traditional corporate identity are easily guessed, combined with the layout elements of several European prototypes.

In particular, in the photo of the front side there are design solutions, with minimal changes, copied from the same type of Lexus and Hyundai models.

The front side demonstrates stylishly and somewhat aggressively:

• wave profiles and raised sidewalls of the hood inclined along the front edge;

• energetic strokes of DRL multifunctional blocks of front optics;

• large format hexagonal radiator grille decorated with cross members.

The front end design is effectively completed by a set of fog lights integrated into the sidewalls of the bumper and a compact body kit. The decor is represented by a silvery brand logo, chrome-plated radiator trim, and ribbed details of the front body relief.

In a less expressive profile projection, the new body attracts attention with a gentle liftback slope of the roof, tonal contrast of light frames and black side glazing pillars, as well as an oval configuration of stylish mirrors.

The design of the lower part of the sedan is interesting in its own way. In the presence of a simplified geometry of doorways and contours of wheel arches, a little longitudinal aerodynamic body relief, a multi-beam pattern of off-road 17-inch disks.

The partially modified design of the stern of the new model range is implemented in the best traditions of European style. In the new generation JAC J7 2021 it will be easy to identify:

• along the wide matte perimeter of the sloped glazing;

• decorative spoiler and brand logo of the trunk lid;

• wedge-shaped side lights combined with fog lights.

The ribbed bumper is equipped with a massive plastic body kit, an air diffuser and a large-caliber exhaust pipe located in the left sidewall.

Interior

In the interior design with a five-seater layout, budget, fabric, kozhimite and plastic finishing materials corresponding to the status of a sedan were used. The dashboard layout resembles the interior design of the latest Mercedes-Benz E-class.

• The design of the sports-type multifunction steering wheel provides a full overview of the digital instrument cluster supplemented with computer functionality.

• Most of the command and configuration functionality is placed on the vertical touchscreen monitor of the small-format center console.

• On the front segment of the central tunnel there is a control panel for fine tuning the climate control and audio systems. The central part is occupied by a platform with a transmission selector, a set of organizers and several command buttons. The design of the tunnel is completed by an armrest with a large glove compartment for small luggage.

It should be noted that the number and functionality of technical and electronic equipment of the sedan complies with the current European standards.

The five-seater salon is quite spacious and comfortable. The service of the driver’s and side passenger seats includes lateral support, several adjustments and heated seats in its list.

The riders of the middle three-seater sofa are provided with the function of setting a comfortable backrest tilt and converting the center segment into a folding armrest.

The rear seat format allows three passengers to be transported with nominal comfort. For lovers of outdoor activities or other types of active Sunday holidays, an increase in the already capacious trunk volume from 540 to 1650 liters can be a pleasant surprise.

Specifications

The new body with external dimensions of 4772 x 1820 x 1492 mm is adapted to the design and operational features of the front-wheel drive platform with a comfortable McPherson strut and link suspension.

The sedan base length is 2760 mm, the ground clearance is 145 mm.
Optimal driving characteristics at different speed modes are stabilized by the electric power steering system, the effective operation of electronic assistants, road, active and passive safety systems.

• The base version of the modernized sedan is driven by a tandem of a 1.5-liter petrol «four» HFC4GB2.4E, with an output of 150 hp / 210 Nm of peak thrust and a front-wheel drive 6-speed manual transmission.

• Most likely, the top version will receive a turbocharged two-liter analogue of 190 hp / 300 Nm, working in conjunction with a CVT transmission of the Punch series.

The test drive allowed us to clarify the upper indicator of the maximum speed of 175 km / h, as well as the optimal fuel consumption for its class from 8.4 to 9.1 liters for each hundred run. The dynamics of acceleration is being specified.

Options and prices

The new 2021 J7 J7 is slated for mass production in base and top versions. The starting price of the sedan is stated in the range of 0.85-0.9 million rubles.

Sales start in Russia

The release date in Russia of the new lineup will presumably be known at the end of the third quarter.

Competing models

The list of the main competitors is formed from the same type models of a similar range: BYD G6 / F7, GAZ Volga Siber Lifan 820 and Geely Borui.
