Speaking of Korean crossovers, it is impossible not to mention the Kia Carnival. It is considered to be the company’s flagship model.
However, the Carnival’s performance after launch has not lived up to expectations, and dismal sales volumes are the best indicator of that.
Such a blow did not make the Korean brand lose its place in this segment of cars.
Not so long ago, the company released a new model — the Kia Carens 2023, which should appear on car counters next year. It was unveiled in China the day before.
Compared to the Carnival, the Carens positioning is obviously a bit lower.
You could say it’s a car built by Kia for a market aimed at the mass consumer.
Compared to the conventional models, some elements have been added to the new Carens in order to create a unique product.
Relatively young and trendy atmosphere is, we can say, the main commercial argument of this car.
The front end of the Carens uses the latest design language of the Kia family. The closed grille carries the shadow of the new-energy cars.
Only the lower front volumetric air intake is retained, and the bulb groups on either side are round and full. They are connected by a darkened decorative strip in the middle, creating a see-through effect.
The dimensions of the new car are 4540x1800x1700 mm, and the wheelbase is 2780 mm.
Compared to the previous model, the size has increased significantly, and the manufacturer offers 6- and 7-seat layouts.
The interior styling of the new Carens is full of highlights, especially the design of the main control screen and center console.
They are on the same platform and in combination with the black paint finish create the effect of an integrated large monitor.
The new car is equipped with ventilated front seats, interior ambient lighting, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, automatic wipers, and other services.
The Kia Carens is equipped with a 1.5-liter self-aspirated unit, or a 1.4-turbocharged engine
Transmission is a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch «robot.»
