Kia Picanto 2021.
The five-door hatchback, sometimes «trying» to resemble a crossover, is well known to the Russian market: since 2018 we have been selling the original special version of the Picanto X-Line, which competes with the «regular» third-generation hatch.
These cars are assembled in Kaliningrad at Avtotor, where from the spring of this year you can address legitimate questions about the timing of the start of the release of the restyled version of the Kia Picanto 2021 model year.
It has already been released in South Korea, where the Picanto is sold under the Morning name, immediately after the car was updated with the significant Urban prefix.
Overview
The 2021 Kia Picanto underwent a massive facelift, remaining on the same front-wheel drive platform with McPherson struts and semi-independent rear suspension, which has a lightweight twisting beam.
In the list of equipment a new item is ventilation for the driver’s seat, while in the «top» version of the equipment the hatchback is still ready to boast six airbags, rear LED optics, cruise control, climate control, fog lights, a navigator, a rear-view camera, power windows , six speakers of an audio system and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Body
The result of the restyling of the 2021 Kia Picanto was, first of all, new bumpers, which significantly changed the exterior of the Korean hatchback.
In front, the side air intakes got rid of the fog lights, «transferring» them to a large central air duct and placing them in a rather expressive frame, visually increasing the size of this part of the frontal optics.
A small false radiator grille «tiger nose» was decorated with a horizontal chrome strip, and the headlights — both front and rear — changed the modular «filling», acquiring a full-fledged 3D effect.
At the rear, the bumper has also updated the foglights and flaunted fake tailpipe trims, located under a chrome trim strip, supposedly framing a false diffuser.
Another novelty is rims of the next original design.
Salon
Inside the Kia Picanto 2021 model year, the displays have changed: a new 4.4-inch color screen is located on the tidy between the analog dials, and the one located in the center of the console has added 1 inch, becoming 8-inch.
In addition, its functionality was expanded by adding the Bluetooth Multi Connection module, which is responsible for the simultaneous connection of two smartphones at once.
The design has also slightly changed: the plastic of the front panel has become more textured, and the decor has received several additional «steel» shades.
Technical stuffing
In South Korea, the new 2021 Kia Picanto hatch body is offered with a single engine — a 1.0-liter 76-horsepower (95 Nm) gasoline engine. You can choose transmissions between 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions.
In Russia, the 2017-2018 version is equipped with a liter “troika” for 67 “horses” (96 Nm) or a “four” with a volume of 1.2 liters, producing 84 liters. from. (122 Nm). The first option has “mechanics”, and the second comes only with “automatic”.
Fuel consumption of these engines is expectedly low: the least powerful engine in mixed mode consumes about 4.4 liters per 100 km. mileage, and the appetite of the four-cylinder power plant is about 5.4 liters.
When will the updated model be released in Russia?
The updated Kia Picanto 2021 is sold for the equivalent of 720 thousand rubles.
The decision to enter the restyled model on the Russian market has not yet been made, so dealers have to offer old versions of the hatchback, which are gradually becoming cheaper: the most affordable option for today is modification 1.0 (67 hp) 5MKP FWD, which can be owned for 517 thousand rubles.
