Lamborghini Huracan STO 2021 — the most powerful coupe with maximum downforce.
The Lamborghini Huracan STO (Super Trofeo Omologato) sports car is a redesigned version of the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO racing car.

And if it was developed exclusively for the track, and the standard Huracan is for moving more on public roads, then the new product with the STO prefix is ​​adapted to these two conditions at once.

Some technical solutions were borrowed from another racing car of the company — the Huracan GT3 EVO, which won the Daytona 24-hour race three times and took first places in the 12-hour competition at the Sebring track twice.


It’s impossible to find fault with the design of any Lamborghini model. The Huracan STO is the brightest sports car ever, as it should be. The modernized STO has become angrier, more aggressive, and sportier.

It, being made in the body of a coupe, received a completely new layout of the hood, fenders and bumper — now they are combined into a single cofango lifting element.

Thus, the front end of the body can be completely folded back for maintenance work on the track: making adjustments to the suspension settings or maintaining the brake system. The same applies to the rear body section — it also folds back for easy access to the engine and brakes.

To improve downforce, the pseudo-radiator grille was redesigned. It has become noticeably wider and includes air duct nozzles.

Air entering them passes through the engine compartment and is discharged into special cutouts on the hood. In addition, air flows under the vehicle floor and exits through the rear diffusers.

This significantly increases the downforce of the new Huracan STO, allowing the vehicle to be as stable as possible on the road.

Above the engine compartment is the so-called shark fin (aerodynamic element), which prevents the car from swinging from side to side when suddenly exiting corners.

The position of the installed wing can be changed manually. Due to this, the downforce can be changed by the rider independently within 13 percent.

All these solutions allowed to increase the downforce by 53% in comparison with the special version of the Lamborghini Perfomante. And aerodynamic performance increased by 37%.

The suspension has been redesigned to reduce weight. At the same time, the rear track of the car has increased. The weight of the windshield has been reduced by 20%, which at the same time has become stronger.

Also, discs were introduced not made of aluminum, but of a magnesium alloy, which are not attached to bolts, but to a quick-locking nut.

The car body is 75% made of carbon fiber. The total weight is 1339 kg. Of course, there is also a roll cage, which is mandatory for all racing cars. True, it will have to be abandoned if Lamborghini wants to release the Huracan STO in the Spyder version.

The convertible is already presented in the renders of the designer Nikita Aksenov. The artist showcased his vision for STO in this body type.

In it, the Huracan lost its roof, however, its zest — the bucket-air intake at the highest point of the engine compartment lid still retained. But, no matter how harmoniously the car looked in Nikita’s pictures, Lamborghini did not announce the upcoming Huracan STO convertible.

Salon and equipment

The interior of the Lamborghini Huracan doesn’t seem exclusively racing. The steering wheel is multifunctional, with the company logo and a notch for the best determination of the steering angle.

The central panel is not devoid of many buttons, the trim is also not poor — Alcantara. The seats are made of carbon. They hold the rider with a death grip.

This is where the similarities with modern cars in the salon end. There is no multimedia system in STO. The surplus was considered inappropriate. True, the climate system is present, and the driving modes can be controlled.

There is a standard mode called «STO», more suitable for flat public roads, Trofeo track mode and Pioggia rain mode. The rain cover was specially designed for this vehicle. All road assistants are deactivated if necessary.


The Huracan STO sports car is rear-wheel drive. Exclusively rear wheel drive. Therefore, it is not surprising that the acceleration rates up to 100 km / h and up to 200 km / h in comparison with the previous version have slightly decreased (by one tenth of a second).

Now it is 3.0 seconds and 9.0 seconds, respectively. The top speed has dropped from 325 to 310 km / h compared to the Perfomante. However, due to the all-wheel drive, the latter was not so quickly screwed into turns.

Here, to achieve maximum controllability and reduce skids (when, of course, the pilot does not need it), a fully controlled landing gear is used. All 4 wheels of the Lamborghini Huracan STO can turn to change direction.

The silent blocks of the car were strengthened, the stabilizers were improved, and the MagneRide 2.0 suspension system was integrated, which is capable of changing stiffness on the go.

The 5.2-liter V10 engine is the same as in all versions of the Huracan, but in STO it produces 640 hp. power and 565 Nm of torque.

Such a motor works together with a 7-speed «robot» LDF with double clutch, which provides instant gear changes.

The braking system is Brembo CCM-R with ceramic and carbon alloy discs. Combined with Bridgestone Potenza tires specially designed for this car, they reduce stopping distances to 30 meters when braking from 100 km / h. From 200 km / h they will stop STO at a distance of 110 meters.

Release date and prices

The competitors include the following cars: McLaren 765LT, Ferrari F8 convertible, Ferrari 488 Pista.
The novelty will be produced in the spring of 2021. She will also come to Russia, though later — in the fall of the same year. The minimum cost of a sports car is 250,000 euros.
