The new Lexus NX 2022: the second generation of the crossover.

The first generation Lexus NX crossover debuted in 2014 and has managed to find more than a million buyers throughout its life.

The main market for the model was the United States, where by the end of 2020, almost 340 thousand SUVs were sold.

Sales in Europe turned out to be much more modest — only about 110 thousand cars in the same time interval.

Well, in Russia, the NX can be considered almost a bestseller, because today the crossover has sold about 41 thousand cars in our country.

It is the undisputed leader in the premium compact SUV segment. Better of the Lexus, only the older RX is sold.

The debut of the new generation model was announced at the beginning of last year, and now the «second» Lexus NX is officially presented.

The assembly of crossovers will start in the third quarter. In Europe, sales will begin at the end of summer, in Russia — towards the end of the year.

Prices and configurations will appear later, for a pre-reform car in our market today they ask for at least 2,830,000 rubles.

Body design and dimensions

In the course of modernization, the SUV moved to the new GA-K platform, becoming related to the latest RAV4.

The consequence was a change in the layout of components and assemblies, due to which the weight distribution along the axes improved, and the center of gravity decreased by 20 mm.

The Lexus HX was also slightly larger in size: the length and width of the steel are 20 mm larger (4660 and 1865 mm, respectively), and the height is 5 mm (1650 mm).

The wheelbase is extended by 30 mm — up to 2690 mm.

There have been no major changes in the external design.

The traditional radiator grille and dynamic profile are retained, there are still many sharp edges and angular shapes.

But the head optics is now made in one piece — with the boomerangs of navigation lights integrated into the structure of the main blocks.

The taillights, however, have acquired new graphics and a now fashionable jumper, which, however, does not merge with the L-shaped side sections.

Instead of the brand’s logo, the Lexus lettering now flaunts on the tailgate.

The nX’s salon has been completely redesigned. The dashboard has a completely different architecture with the multimedia system display turned towards the driver and slightly shifted closer to it.

The media center is controlled by touch or voice commands — no more touchpads and joysticks.

Although there are physical controls for quickly adjusting the climate control and audio volume.

The basic Lexus Link Connect system has a screen size of 9.8 inches, while the more powerful and functional Lexus Link Pro has 14 inches.

The new crossover steering wheel is equipped with programmable touch buttons that allow you to change settings without taking your eyes off the road.

All actions must be confirmed using a 10-inch head-up display. A 7-inch virtual instrument cluster is provided to display the most important on-board data.

The equipment of the new Lexus HX also includes an upgraded electric boot lid that can open / close the door in 4 seconds, improved wireless charging of smartphones, contour lighting with 64 shades.

From 2022, support for wireless connection of gadgets using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto protocols will appear.

There is also a digital key in the list of options, which allows you to lock / unlock the doors and start / stop the engine from your smartphone via Bluetooth.

This key can be shared with seven people registered in a special Lexus application.

An interesting option is the electronic door locks, which can be unlocked from the inside by simply pressing the handle.

They are forcibly blocked if there is a danger from an approaching car or cyclist when exiting. You can also open the doors in the usual way — just by pulling the handle towards you.

Another new «n-x» was sent the latest version of the Lexus Safety System + 3.0. It includes adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, lane keeping and road sign reading.

The second generation crossover will delight you with a wide range of modifications.

In the countries of Eastern Europe, including the Russian market, the NX 200 and NX 250 versions will remain in service.

The first version is equipped with a 2.0-liter aspirated engine with a capacity of 150 hp. and a variator, the second — with a 2.5-liter engine with a return of 199 hp. and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The next variation — Lexus NX 350 — has a 2.4-liter turbo unit developing 279 hp. and 430 Nm.

The gearbox here is also an 8-speed automatic, and the drive is full with the function of dynamic thrust distribution.

The Lexus NX 350h hybrid replaces the 300h modification. The power plant of such a car is formed by a bunch of 2.5-liter aspirated and an electric motor, which give a total of 244 hp, which is 47 forces more than the power of the previous system.

By installing an additional electric motor on the rear axle, the hybrid becomes all-wheel drive.

The new Lexus NX 350h accelerates to 100 km / h in 7.7 seconds.

Topping the lineup is the newest NX 450h + plug-in hybrid, the first plug-in gasoline-electric Lexus.

It is driven by the same 2.5-liter engine, but it is combined with a more powerful front electric motor, and the rear one is here by default.

Lexus NX 450h + is equipped with a lithium-ion traction battery with a capacity of 18 kW * h, which, when driving on one electric traction, provides a mileage of up to 63 km.

The top speed in pure electric mode is limited to 135 km / h.

Charging the battery from a 240 Volt network using a standard 3.3 kW charger takes 4.5 hours, an optional 6.6 kW charger takes about 2.5 hours.

The configuration of the «n-x» suspension remains unchanged — all are also used by MacPherson strut in the front and a multi-link in the rear.

But the chassis has been calibrated in a new way, and the power steering and braking system have been reconfigured to improve control accuracy.
