The main guidelines have also been designated, because the Japanese in most priority markets, including the Russian one, have already managed to patent the names of modifications that will be entirely hybrid: RX350h, RX450h + and RX500h.

The creators of the RX crossover love to remind you that this model is the pioneer of the premium mid-size SUV class.

Indeed, to this day, the Japanese SUV remains one of the most sought-after representatives of the highly competitive luxury SUV segment, and while its V6 may not be the most efficient, it exhibits smooth acceleration and its perfectly tuned suspension settings make the RX one of the most comfortable SUVs on the market.

In 2020, Lexus has restyled the model, so there is very little chance that this SUV will change much in appearance.

Rather, we are waiting for an upgrade following the example of the NX 2022, where the main changes will be inside and affect the equipment.

It is difficult to confuse the exterior styling of Lexus with any other, and the models of the Japanese premium brand themselves can be distinguished by inexperienced motorists, except by the nameplates on the stern and sizes.

Japanese designers do not get tired of experimenting with the outlines and sizes of their branded radiator grille, the pattern of the lanterns and the plastic bumpers, but in general the result remains the same for all models of the brand — it is as aggressive and sporty as possible.

More expressiveness is expected for the new generation of the 2022 Lexus RX, although the air intakes are inevitably reduced in size as the model gradually moves to green technologies.

Generation change is always a need to jump over your head, given that modern requirements force you to constantly modernize your models and keep the public’s interest thanks to endless restyling.

Obviously, this problem will have to be addressed, as well as not forgetting that a new interior should appear in the RX, at least not inferior to the cabin of the new compact NX with its chic 14-inch center touchscreen.

Technical stuffing

The details of the power plants for the RX350h, RX450h + and RX500h trim levels are shared only by the Japanese media so far.

According to their data, the RX350h will be equipped with a THS II unit — the same as on the compact NX, that is, with a 2.5-liter engine and an electric «add-on», which will provide power at 222 hp. from.

The RX500h will be powered by a six-cylinder 3.5-liter unit, while the RX450h + (plus in the name stands for plug-in hybrid) will get the powertrain from the new rechargeable RAV4 PHEV.

It uses a 2.5-liter petrol «four» with 182 liters. It is mated to a continuously variable transmission and is assisted by two electric motors — 134 kW (176 hp) front and 40 kW (53 hp) rear and 302 hp hybrid peak power.

When will it be released in Russia?

The new Lexus RX 2022 has already staked out a place in Russian dealerships, which is confirmed by the corresponding patents obtained in our country.

At the same time, new products will have to wait for a long time — until the end of 2022, the beginning of 2023.
