Racing Lotus Emira GT4 — only with Toyota engine.
Buyers of the Lotus Emira road coupe can choose one of two engines — either Toyota’s V6, complete with a drive supercharger, or AMG’s two-liter turbo four.
However, there is only one option for the Emira GT4 race model, with which Lotus returns to GT4 series racing after a brief hiatus.
Ring cars will have the proven Toyota engines without alternative.
And yet the racing Lotus Emira GT4 is significantly different from the road versions.
The development of this coupe Lotus was engaged in together with the engineering firm RML Group.
The car has a lightweight composite body, externally copying the production Emira.
The chassis is with the original double wishbone «all-round» suspension and adjustable Öhlins TTx shock absorbers. The racing ABS also has several modes of operation.
The Toyota 2GR-FE 3.5 liter engine has been seriously modified: the lubrication system with a dry sump, Motec control unit, and even a Harrop TVS 1900 compressor is installed instead of the drive supercharger Edelbrock, which is due to road cars.
Maximum power is the same 406 hp as in the production coupe. The GT4 version has a sequential Xtrac gearbox and a limited slip differential.
What else? An FIA-approved safety cage, a pilot seat and a 96-litre fuel tank.
An automatic fire extinguishing system is installed. Dry weight of the car is 1300 kg.
The Emira GT4 is already selling to teams and individuals.
The price starts at 165,000 pounds sterling (without taxes). Although a road Emira with a V6 engine costs from 65,000 pounds.
Lotus is set to unveil the racing Emira on May 5.
The Lotus press service has published a video where you can hear how great the racing supercar from Lotus sounds. The novelty with the name Emira will officially debut on May 5.

A short video lasts only 13 seconds and doesn’t really give us a chance to see the car properly.
At the end of the video, we can see two rows of portions of letters. The top ones seem to be spelled «Emira,» but the other word is indistinguishable.
The clip begins with a glimpse of a cloudy sky. Then we see a red and white curb around the perimeter of the track.
The action shifts to the car, with the gloved driver holding on to the steering wheel. We also see the man’s carbon helmet.
Things are blurry in this video, but the car appears to have a «stripped down» interior.
You can also hear the engine running in the video. It makes a rough, gruff and aggressive sound.
Lotus already offers the Emira GT4 race car. With that in mind, we suspect that the car in this teaser could be a special version of the sports coupe just for the race track.
The Emira replaces the Elise, Exige and Evora in the current Lotus lineup.
The model is available with a 3.5-liter supercharged V6 engine made by Toyota with 400 horsepower. With a six-speed manual transmission, the engine offers 420 Nm.
Up to 100 km/h, the car accelerates in 4.3 seconds with a manual transmission or 4.2 seconds with an automatic transmission.
Regardless of the transmission, the Emira has a top speed of 290 km/h.
The other engine option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine from Mercedes-AMG, which in this case develops 360 hp and 420 Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to an eight-speed double-clutch transmission.
