The Maserati MC12 Versione Corse is on sale: no more than 15 units have been assembled.

Maserati has produced only 50 examples of the MC12 Stradale road supercar and a further 12 cars in the ultimatum Versione Corse.

Now one of the two-door track cars is offered for sale, and it is asked for a fortune.

Note that the rare Maserati MC12 Versione Corse was based on the racing MC12 GT1, which won the FIA GT Championship in 2005.

If the road MC12 Stradale is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine with 630 hp and 652 Nm, the track modification gets up to 755 hp and 710 Nm of torque.

To increase performance the Italians not only used special software settings, but also refused a chain drive camshaft in favor of gear drive.

Plus the coupe has been deprived of the variable length intake manifold and supplemented with adaptive shock absorbers instead of the usual ones.

As a result, the Maserati MS12 is able to «shoot» in 2.9 seconds (- 0.5).

Acceleration from 0-200 km/h is claimed by the manufacturer at the level of 6.4 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 326 km/h.

Interestingly, the circulation of 12 copies is indicative, and in fact it was a bit more — from 13 to 15 (taking into account prototypes). In any case, the orange two-door for sale is very rare.

It has a mileage of only 1,490 km and is in fully original condition. The car has never had an accident, and the seller wants to get 2,890,755 euros for it (about 250.4 million rubles at current exchange rate).

Note that three years ago at an auction in France, the auction house Sotheby’s sold the road MC12, for which the winning bidder paid € 2,001,872 (173.8 million rubles).

Maserati MC12 Corsa: seven seconds

In his native Germany, supercar «tuner» Edo Competition arranged for Canadian guest Zahir Rana (not the most Canadian name, right?) to have a special test drive of the exclusive Maserati MC12 Corsa.

Zaheer is a successful sports car dealer from Calgary, and his showroom is the very first stop for supercars arriving in Canada.

Yes, seven seconds is the acceleration time of the Maserati MC12 Corsa. That’s right, to a hundred. But not to the first, but to the second!

The supercar gathers the first hundred in less than three seconds. Usually, cars with such potential (and additionally tuned in German atelier) are tested on a special range or a racetrack. But there is a mishap: all local tracks are still closed at the beginning of spring.

What to do, as Germans need to show their new project in practice to the key supercar distributors?

Of course, you can choose a country road closed to traffic. For example, a 2,800-meter-wide stretch of 2.5 meters in Ahlen is enough for a small demonstration of what a FIA GT-class supercar can do.

The Maserati MC12 Corsa is a carbon monocoque with aluminum subframes on which a composite body is mounted.

Inside, a sequential transmission, a 6.0-liter V12 engine with 755 hp. The engine reaches maximum power after 8,000 rpm.

Can you imagine how it sounds? No wonder it is forbidden to use the car in the city…

And how it goes: maximum speed is more than 330 km/h, acceleration up to 200 km/h (we shall leave the first «hundred» to city cars) — 7 seconds!

All this for «only» 1 million euros, not including taxes. Plus the cost of modifications «Edo Competition», of course. Maserati has produced only 12 such supercars, and one of them got into hands of German tuners.

The car which had to be driven by a car dealer from Canada, has a different gearbox, taken from the F1 car, new adjustable suspension from KW, ceramic brakes (instead of carbon fiber) and new exhaust system with adjustable sound volume from the cabin.

The headlights, immobilizer, radiator fans and a horn have also been redesigned.

It was Zahir Rana’s happiest day. Edo Karabegovic, the company manager, surprised the Canadian by sticking a «maple flag» with the name of a supercar salesman on the door of the MC12, hinting who he would like to see as the future owner of the orange «shell».

Inspiring beginning! And the rest was like a dream: Zahir later confessed that even his own yellow 660-horsepower Ferrari Enzo doesn’t get his blood pumping like the Maserati from «Edo.»

It was dry and chilly. But that didn’t do much to save the wheels from the constant urge to go into slip. It was only in third gear that Zahir could sink the gas pedal to the floor without fear of flying into the bushes.

The sequential gearbox clicked gears for only 150 milliseconds, and the brutal pressure of the 755-horsepower engine carried him through time and distance.

Even the Maserati MC12 Corsa presses the pilot into buckets so strongly, that the sensation can be compared with a shot from a catapult.

Towards the end of the test drive the police visited. They were called from a village six kilometers away, complaining about the strong roar of the engines.

And soon after the test drive, the Maserati MC12 from Edo Competition was sold for 1.4 million euros! And Edo himself promised to «make» a couple more Maserati in the near future — but he is not sure that he will be able to get exactly MC12 Corsa.
