Mazda CX-90 2023.

The new Mazda CX-90 is presented: the flagship crossover from the Japanese manufacturer.

Mazda introduced the CX-90 full-size three-row crossover, which became the second representative of the new premium family of the Large Product Group (after the CX-60).

The novelty is the flagship model, which is positioned as the successor to the CX-9.

From the nose to the central pillars of the body, it almost completely repeats the aforementioned «sixties».

She has a similar “face” with a proprietary grille and compact LED headlights, although the front bumper is still a little different here — with modified side and more noticeable central air intakes.

The CX-90 also has puffier fenders and rich chrome trim.

Depending on the configuration, the car can be put on wheels with a diameter of up to 21″.

Compared to the “sixties”, the crossover has a stretched wheelbase and an increased rear overhang, due to which it has an original feed, with modified rear pillars and a larger area of side glazing.

But the interior design of the flagship again largely echoes the younger model of the family.

In particular, the cars have the same front panel with a virtual tidy and a multimedia system screen sticking out in the center (it can be 10.25 or 12.3 inches diagonal).

Of the options available for the interior of the model, it is worth noting the Bose audio system with twelve speakers, all-round cameras, a panoramic roof, a projection display, etc.

The interior of the CX-90 is already three-row in the base, and customers are offered several layout options with six, seven or eight seats to choose from.

So, on the second row of the car, either a three-seater sofa or separate “captain’s” chairs, separated from each other by a massive armrest box, can be installed.

In turn, the gallery of the model also comes in two types — two- or three-seater.

Since the model is a representative of the premium family, and even its flagship, its interior has a rich finish of high-quality materials.

For example, in the older configuration, the interior is covered with nappa leather with unusual stitching (in the style of Japanese Kumihimo technology), and also has a wooden decor.

The automaker has not yet announced the dimensions of the Mazda CX-90 2023, but the new crossover is noticeably larger than the same CX-9: it reaches more than 5.0 meters in length.

The design of the chassis is the same as that of the «sixties»: a two-lever is used in front, and a multi-link in the back.

At the same time, the car’s suspension itself is passive spring. It is not possible to order adaptive shock absorbers or air bellows.

Since the model was developed for the North American market, there are no diesel engines in the range of power units, and the Japanese refused the basic 2.5-liter aspirated.

For the crossover, two versions are announced. The first of these has a 3.3-liter inline «turbo» e-Skyactiv G.

On the CX-60, it produces 284 hp. (450 Nm), but for the flagship it was boosted to 345 forces (500 Nm).

By the way, this is the most powerful motor that has ever been put on Japanese brand road cars.

Working in tandem with the internal combustion engine is an eight-speed automatic, which uses a wet clutch and a modest electric motor instead of a torque converter.

In fact, this modification is the so-called «soft» hybrid, which is not able to drive purely on electric traction.

But the second option is already a full-fledged rechargeable hybrid PHEV.

Its power plant consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder aspirated engine and an electric motor, which in total give out 327 “mares” and 500 Nm of torque.

Such a crossover is equipped with the same eight-speed automatic, and the lithium-ion traction battery put to it has a capacity of 17.8 kWh.

It can be recharged from the terminal, and a 1,500-watt household socket is provided in the trunk.

The CX-90 PHEV is capable of pure electric driving, although the corresponding drive mode can only be activated if there is fuel in the gas tank. Power reserve — not advertised.

Both modifications are all-wheel drive: they have an i-Activ system with a clutch on the front axle.

Also in the arsenal of the crossover is the electronic Kinematic Posture Control (KPC) system, which was first received by the Mazda MX-5. The latter is able to slow down the inner rear wheel, thereby reducing roll in corners.

And the model has an advanced complex of electronic assistants i-Activsense.

In North America, the new CX-90 should debut in the middle of twenty-three.

Crossovers for the local market will be produced in Japan. Information about the cost of the model is not yet available.
