Mitsubishi ASX 2022: crossover in front- or all-wheel drive configuration.
Japan’s Mitsubishi is realizing its creative and manufacturing potential in creating and upgrading practical, functional and affordable vehicles.
After a three-year hiatus, the branded range has been updated with a revised version of the compact crossover, which is announced as the Mitsubishi ASX 2022.
The new model has received a superficial restyling, which has realized itself with fresh solutions in design of the front end and interior design.
Technical and performance characteristics have been finalized in minor details.
Exterior
In the third generation, the new crossover body shows interesting design developments combined with the characteristic details of the crossover layout.
The car looks great in all projections, but looks most dynamic and expressive in photos and promotional videos in the «parade» front view. In the field of view:

From the backside view Mitsubishi ASX 2022 is identified at first sight by the layout and configuration of the basic elements.
The attention is attracted by semicircular edge of a spoiler visor, oval format of a back window, exclusive on an idea of the graphics of dimensional stoplights.
In the same style with the front is designed the lower tier of the stern, complete with stepped bumper, outlet air diffusers and metal-plastic dodger.
Judging by the abundance of external decorative chrome, the company plans to introduce the new crossover to the markets of Latin America and the Middle East.
Interior
As a result of the modernization of the crossover SUV’s five-seat interior, the dashboard’s command-media monitor has increased to eight inches, and the current range of trim and decorating materials has been expanded.
The upper, free of spokes segment of the multicontrol opens a full view of the analog-digital instrument panel with classic arrow indicators and 4-inch computer monitor format.
The upper center console unit also comes with a paired set of deflectors, as well as a remote with climate adjustment washers and analog-mechanical activators for comfort-enhancing options.
As part of the crossover is also modern technical equipment, advanced characteristics of the complete electronics.
Equipment of the central tunnel is standard: there is a transmission control lever, a set of organizers and an armrest with a refrigerator compartment.
In full accordance with the crossover off-road status of the novelty perfectly profiled pilot seats are equipped with effective lateral support, adjustable head restraints, heating and ventilation systems.
Rear sofa, with some restrictions, can accommodate three adult passengers. On long, long trips, it is desirable to reduce the number of companions to two people.
The design of the rear seats provides the possibility of backrest transformation to increase the capacity of the luggage compartment from 384 to 1219 liters.
Specifications
Overall length, width and height of the body in the proportions of 4365 x 1810 and 1640 mm in the upgraded version remain unchanged.
The crossover is still based on the proprietary «bogie» GS with nominal for its class rack-mounted Macpherson and multilever suspension.
Chassis with a base of 2670 mm and ground clearance of 215 mm is equipped with disc brakes, cross-roll stabilization, reliable in daily use of active safety systems.
The modifications for the Russian market have two power tandems. In the first case, it is a 16-valve engine 1.6 liter / 117 hp / 154 N-m and a five-speed «mechanics» with front-wheel drive.
The top version is a two-liter petrol engine with output of 150 h.p./197 N-m, to which the all-wheel drive CVT-variator supplemented by a multi-disc clutch is attached.
Test-drive confirmed that the acceleration time from start to test speeds of 100 km / h takes 11.4-11.7 seconds, the top «maximum» 183-191 km / h, fuel consumption at variable speeds of 6.1-7.7 liters.
Prices and equipment
At the initial stage of the new Mitsubishi ACH 2022 model year promised by the company-manufacturer in four modifications.
Taking into account traction-speed characteristics of power equipment and the number of options, the price of the crossover in the ruble range will be from 1.7 to 2.1 million.
Sales start in Russia
It is very likely that domestic motorists will be able to assess the benefits of novelties in the second half of 2022. The exact date of release in Russia is still in the classified information department.
Competitors
Mitsubishi ACH 2022 comes out on the rise of high demand for crossover cars, so the list of similar models includes more than fifty brands and names.
The top contenders are the Renault Kaptur, Hyundai Creta, Suzuki Vitara, and Nissan Qashqai, all of which are justified in claiming the top spot.
