2023 Mitsubishi Montero Sport SUV Review: Parallel Import from the UAE.
Some time ago, the third-generation Mitsubishi Montero Sport 3 SUV appeared in Russia.
A batch of such cars of the 2023 model year was brought to us from the United Arab Emirates under the parallel import scheme.
Note that «Montero Sport» is not a full-fledged novelty for our market, since this name hides Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 3, which is well known to Russians.
Appearance and interior
Back in the twenty-first, a restyled version of the latter was even going to be produced at a plant in Kaluga, but it never came to conveyor production due to the notorious sanctions.
Now the updated Pajero Sport has reached Russia, albeit under a different name.
The car imported from the Emirates differs from the global version of the model only in equipment (it is a little richer).
Externally, the new Mitsubishi Montero Sport 2023 completely repeats the current Pajero Sport.
The SUV is characterized by an angular body design with large slits in the wheel arches.
He has an aggressive «muzzle», made in the style of the Japanese brand «Dynamic Shield».
The front of the car is notable for the presence of a massive bumper with large side sections. Head optics are fully LED.
The model has a monumental stern with vertically arranged taillights.
A figured spoiler visor hangs over the roof, and a neat chrome trim is placed directly on the fifth door, resembling a bird spreading its wings.
As for the seven-seat saloon, here the heavy front panel immediately draws attention to itself.
It houses an 8.0-inch virtual instrument cluster with additional sections on the sides.
The SUV is equipped with the Mitsubishi Connect multimedia system, an eight-inch touchscreen which is located in the center of the front panel. Under it is a climate control unit with a pair of krutilok.
Specifications
The new body of the 2023 Mitsubishi Montero Sport is based on a frame platform from the L200 pickup truck and has a continuous axle with coil springs on the rear axle.
The overall length of the SUV is 4,825 mm, the distance between its axles is 2,800 mm. The width and height of the car are 1,815 and 1,800 mm, respectively.
Trunk volume — 714 liters (with the third row folded down). Ground clearance (clearance) — 218 millimeters.
The 3rd generation Mitsubishi Montero Sport has the same range of powertrains as the global Pajero Sport.
Consequently, either a 2.4-liter turbodiesel with 181 hp is available for the car. (430 Nm), or a 3.0-liter petrol V6 with 209 forces (279 Nm). Both motors work in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic.
The drive of cars can be both rear and full. In the latter case, the Japanese SUV relies on a Super Select II transmission with a Torsen limited-slip differential and several off-road presets.
Apparently, exclusively all-wheel drive cars with a gasoline engine were brought to Russia.
With such a bunch of units Mondero Sport is able to accelerate from zero to hundreds in 11.7 seconds.
For comparison, the all-wheel drive version with a diesel engine copes with the task in 10.5 seconds.
What is the price
Prices for SUVs presented in Russian car dealerships vary. Specifically, the Avtomir dealer asks for a model from 3,530,000 rubles.
Other sellers also have cars in the top configuration Ultimate F56 with a price tag of 4,190,000 rubles.
