Mitsubishi unveiled the new Xpander Cross crossover.
Outwardly — a real SUV. Inside is a minivan, and its engine and transmission seem to be taken from an urban subcompact.
Mitsubishi is not the first company looking to promote the cross-van class. Prior to that, such attempts were made by Renault, which released the Scenic XMOD. But, apparently, the company decided that it was time to return the Delica Space Gear model.
The Xpander Cross is a 2017 seven-seater compact minivan that has now received a cross version. Despite the fact that the Xpander appeared not so long ago, it is one of the four best-selling models of the company. In 2018, 104 thousand people purchased it.

Therefore, Mitsubishi decided to create another version based on it, which should be successful. The car turned out to be higher than the original model due to the increased ground clearance, wider due to the linings on the fenders and looks like a hereditary crossover, and not like an elevated minivan, which it is.
The Xpander Cross has a ground clearance of 225 mm.
While the exterior of the car says it’s a crossover, inside it is the same classic minivan with a spacious cabin designed for seven people with a huge number of glove compartments for storage, armrests and ample transformation options.
The Mitsubishi Xpander Cross is equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter petrol engine producing 103 hp and 141 Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. The car is exclusively front-wheel drive.
The cross-van is assembled in Indonesia, on the same assembly line with the usual Xpander and is intended for sales in the markets of Southeast Asia and is unlikely to be supplied to Russia.
