New Kia Rio 2024.

Kia Rio is not leaving the market, but is preparing for a major update.

Some time ago, Kia announced that it would soon remove the Rio sedan from the European market.

But this does not mean that the Korean model will soon become history.

Moreover, the first photos have appeared on the Web that reveal the appearance of the updated Kia Rio 2024.

True, the Korean company has not yet confirmed the information that this particular model has come out for winter testing.

However, the distinctive 4 lugs on the front clearly indicate that Kia has begun testing the Rio.

The test car is covered with dense camouflage covering almost the entire body. But its presence indicates that the Korean model is in for a profound change.

So, the published photos show the head optics, which has become significantly thinner than its predecessor, and is now complemented by narrow LED DRLs.

The front bumper is matched with a wide central air intake and vertical air vents.

The new Rio has a flatter roof, which, combined with a curved window sill line, gives the sedan a sporty look.

Behind the Korean model, another optics with LEDs appeared. The stern bumper has also taken on a sportier configuration. The developers built 2 exhaust pipes into it.

The latter indicates that Kia is preparing a powerful version of the Rio. Despite the start of tests, the Korean company has not yet disclosed in which markets it will retain this sedan.

In addition to Europe, the car will definitely leave Australia and the USA.

What’s more, the Rio will not be sold in India, as Kia has said it is removing the right-hand drive version from the production line. Perhaps this model will remain only in emerging markets.

While the body is hidden under a thick layer of camouflage, however, some details can already be seen.

The car will get a new front end with a vertical grille, similar to the older K5 model, and narrow horizontal headlights with LED strips at the top.

The K5 features are also visible on the side, namely additional windows behind the rear side doors and a molding that stretches from the side glazing to the rear window.

In addition, the rear window will be made more sloping, making the silhouette of the novelty more like a liftback.

There will be new lights with more angular outlines, which will most likely be combined with an LED strip. Also, the sedan is depicted with rims of a new design.

While there is no reliable information about the technical features of the future novelty, however, it can be assumed that it will be made on the same platform as the new Hyundai Verna / Solaris, about which fresh details have recently appeared.

They may also have a common engine range, so far it is only known that in the Indian market the new Verna will be offered with a naturally aspirated 1.5 MPI petrol paired with a 6-speed “mechanics”.

A more powerful turbocharged version of the T-GDI of the same volume will also be available, equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch robotic gearbox.

The prospects for a new sedan on the Russian market are still vague, while the current model was offered with two engines until recently — a 100-horsepower 1.4 and a 123-horsepower 1.6.

The official price tag starts at 1,434,900 rubles for version 1.4 with a manual gearbox, a more powerful version with a 6-speed automatic is estimated at at least 1,534,900 rubles.
