Maserati Grecale: the Italians have officially unveiled their new crossover.

The official premiere of the Maserati Grecale crossover, announced back in the twentieth year, took place in March of the twenty-second year.

The novelty has occupied one step below Levante in the lineup of the Italian brand.

The car has received its name in honor of the wind in the Mediterranean. Visually, it is made in Maserati’s signature design style, which means it has a low nose of the hood and oval «jaws» of the front air intake.

On the front fenders of the SUV, you can see three small air vents, while the shape of the taillights is a reference to the 1998 Maserati 3200 GT sports car.

Depending on the version, the car can have wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches in diameter, with the top model variant (Trofeo) also boasting a more aggressive bodykit.

The interior of the new Maserati Grecale is trimmed in genuine leather with inserts of wood veneer and carbon fiber, and the front panel has four displays at once.

In particular, the car has a 12.3-inch virtual dashboard with three graphical presets (the Trofeo has four).

Two more displays are on the central console (both touch screen). The top one is 12.3 inches diagonal and is given to the needs of the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) multimedia system, and under it is an 8.8-inch screen, from which you control the climate and a number of other settings.

In the center of the front panel there is the usual Maserati clock, but here it is digital (a first for the brand’s cars).

This screen can not only show the time, but also serve as a compass, acceleration indicator or chronometer, plus it can visualize a voice assistant.

And crossover has a separate 6.5-inch monitor on the back row, from which the settings of the third zone of the climate control.

For an extra charge, the car can be ordered with a projection display for the driver. The new Maserati Grecale is based on the Giorgio platform, familiar from the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio.

The wheelbase of the crossover is 2,901 mm. Overall length of the car is 4 846 mm (- 157 compared with the Levante), width — 1 948 mm (- 20), height — 1 670 mm (- 9). The trunk volume is 535 liters (570 liters on the Trofeo).

In the base all-terrain vehicle has a standard spring suspension: twin wishbones are involved here in the front, and multilever in the back.

At the same time, you can optionally order a suspension with three-chamber air struts, allowing you to change the ground clearance in the range of 65 mm.

Maserati Grecale will debut on the market in three versions, equipped with an eight-speed automatic ZF and all-wheel drive system with a clutch on the front axle, and the cardan shaft is made of carbon fiber.

The base GT variant of the crossover is a «soft» hybrid. It is driven by a 2,0-liter «turbo four» with a combined supercharger (a turbocharger and an electric supercharger). The engine is completed with a 48-volt starter-generator (with belt drive).

Claimed power of the installation — 300 hp. (450 Nm). Curb weight of this version — 1 870 kg. Acceleration from a place to a hundred is possible in 5.6 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 240 km/h.

The «medium» modification is called Grecale Modena. It has the same «filling», but it has 330 horsepower (450 Nm), and the rear axle is equipped with a self-locking valve.

This car weighs 1,895 kg, and is able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds.

Top is Maserati Grecale Trofeo, under the hood of which is located a 3.0-liter V6 with two turbos (as on the Maserati MC20 Coupe). On the crossover the output of the unit reaches 530 «horsepower» and 620 Nm of torque.

The flagship has no electric add-on, but has the mentioned air suspension by default, and also is equipped with electronically controlled rear differential.

It weighs 2 027 kg, and «shoots» up to a hundred for 3,8 seconds. Its speed limit is 285 km/h.

At the same time in a year the Grecale will be completely electric, that is the first electric car of the Italian brand.

The «green» Folgore will be equipped with a 105 kWh battery and a 400-volt electrical system.

Its performance is not disclosed, but the maximum torque is known — 800 Nm.

It is known that the new crossover has a system of changing the driving settings Vehicle Dynamic Control Module (VDCM), allowing you to switch between the presets Comfort, GT, Sport and Off-Road.

The latter is considered off-road here and when activated in cars with air suspension the ground clearance is increased by 30 mm.

On the top-end Maserati Grecale Trofeo, the extreme Corsa with Launch Control is added to the above-mentioned modes.

You can switch between these settings with the selector on the steering wheel.

As for equipment, the options for the model available autoparking and autopilot second level, which in fact is an advanced adaptive cruise control, capable of operating at speeds up to 210 km/h.

You can also order the audio system of the Italian company Sonus Faber (can have 14 or 21 speakers) and a panoramic roof.

Serial production of the Grecale crossover will be set up at the plant of concern Stellantis in Cassino, Italy.

The model will be on the market in the second half of 2022. Approximate price — from 60,000 euros (6.9 million rubles at current exchange rate) for the base version.
