Toyota is behind schedule on the development of the new Camry sedan.

According to the Australian magazine Drive, the ninth iteration of the Camry will not appear until seven years after its predecessor, while before the generation changed in five to six years.

Drive insiders specify that production of the new Camry at Toyota’s US plant will begin in April 2024.

As for technology, the ninth generation Camry is expected to develop the TNGA-K platform, revolutionary exterior design and evolutionary interior improvements.

Most markets will bet on a hybrid powertrain, but since about 85 percent of sedans in the US are sold with conventional gasoline engines, such versions will also remain.

But Camry will no longer have a V6 engine: instead, a new 2.4-liter “turbo four” will appear. In many ways, the sources of the Australian magazine are in solidarity with their American colleagues.

Perhaps even a plug-in modification will appear in the range, equipped with a hybrid system similar to the RAV4 PHEV.

Whether the new Camry 2024 will have an electric version, like the Hilux, is still unknown.
