Nio ET5 2022.

Nio ET5: The Chinese have unveiled a new electric sedan with a range of up to 1,000 km.

Chinese company Nio introduced a compact electric sedan ET5, which is seen as a direct competitor to the BMW i4 and Tesla Model 3.

According to its form factor, the novelty is more like a liftback than a standard sedan.

Stylistically it resembles the older model of the family — ET7. Externally, these cars differ only in size.

The car has narrow strips of headlights and lights, recessed door handles, a sloping roof and a short «tail» of the trunk.

Its aerodynamic drag coefficient is 0.24. Interior design of the sedan is minimalistic, but quite sophisticated.

There is a 10.2-inch HDR digital dashboard and a large tablet multimedia system located on top of the central console.

Also offered for the model are virtual reality glasses, which allow you to interact with the virtual 201-inch display located at a distance of 6 meters in front of the cabin.

Other features of the sedan include ambient suspension (256 colors), Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 audio system and the ability to access the cabin with a digital key.

Nio ET5 2022 reaches a length of 4,790 mm, a width of 1,960 mm, and a height of 1,499 mm.

Wheelbase of the model is 2,888 mm. The sedan is powered by two electric motors with a total capacity of 483 hp. (700 Nm).

According to official data, the car is able to accelerate from a place to a hundred in 4.3 seconds, while it takes only 33.9 meters to stop completely from that speed.

By the way, such an effective braking system is in-house design.

By default, the model relies on a 75 kWh traction battery, which provides a range of more than 550 km (on the cycle CLTC).

A more advanced version has a 100 kWh battery and is able to travel more than 700 km.

The longest range modification is equipped with 150 kWh battery.

According to the developers, this car can travel 1,000 km and more without recharging.

Sedan is also supposed to have NIO Autonomous Driving (NAD), as well as the systems NIO Aquila Super Sensing and NIO Adam Super Computing.

Due to this, the four-door is able to self-park, and move along highways and urban areas.

In China, sales of the new Nio ET5 will begin in September 2022 at a price of $51,500 (3.8 million rubles at current exchange rates).

Whether this sedan will appear outside of the Celestial Empire is still unknown.

Meanwhile, the older ET7 will be on sale in 25 countries by 2025, which means the younger model will likely hit all those markets as well.
