It is assumed that the model of the French brand in the European market will compete for buyers with the future Renault Espace crossover.

The history of the Peugeot 5008 began in 2009, when it was a mid-size MPV.

However, during the generation change in 2017, the model was “retrained” as a crossover.

Restyling this SUV survived in 2020, and now the company is developing a new generation.

Note that sales of the model in the old-world market have been falling since 2019.

According to Carsalesbase statistics, for January-November last year (data for the whole year are not yet available), the model sold 33,057 units, which is 33.5% less than a year earlier.

However, earlier the company noted that we will see such a design on production models no earlier than the middle of this decade.

It is assumed that the third generation crossover will have head optics of a different shape, and narrow LED “fangs” will “grow” not from the headlights, but a little lower.

Also, the model will receive a different hood with stampings and a new grille with a pattern in the form of vertical, diverging strokes in the body color.

In the center of the «grill» there will be a large actual brand logo in the form of an image of a lion’s head.

Another crossover will receive a differently designed lower part of the front bumper — a slightly different design of the central air intake, as well as a pair of side air ducts.

The “third” Peugeot 5008 will still have a body kit made of unpainted plastic around the perimeter of the body, but silver decor elements may disappear.

Judging by the render, the car will have conventional door handles and traditional side mirrors.

According to the publication, during the generation change, the crossover will become a few millimeters longer and wider, and the height will probably remain the same.

Most likely, the food will also receive its portion of new things, in particular, the taillights will be designed in the same style as the current Peugeot 308, 408 and the future updated 508.

According to preliminary data, there will be no diesel engines in the engine range.

The new generation Peugeot 5008 will receive a mild hybrid power plant, while the base will be a new 136-horsepower three-cylinder PureTech engine with a volume of 1.2 liters.

The model will also have a plug-in hybrid option, and the system is expected to produce a total output of 200 hp.

Such a modification will be equipped with a battery with a capacity of 20 kWh, and the power reserve of the crossover on electric power alone will be about 90 km.
