Polestar 4 2024.

Polestar 4 introduced: at the intersection of genres and without a rear window.

This electric car is not easy to determine not only the class, but also the type of body.

The developers themselves call it SUV Coupe, then from the crossover there is only black lining on bumpers and doors (even the wheel arches are devoid of this plastic), and the overall height is 1544 mm.

This is only 6 mm more than the «six» BMW Gran Turismo.

As for the body type, this is not a sedan or a hatchback in the traditional sense.

Polestar 4 lacks a rear window, thanks to which the engineers implemented two layout tricks at once.

Firstly, the powerful roof crossbar, which is usually located in front of the glass, has been moved further back, which made it possible to add space above the heads of riders.

And secondly, the trunk separated from the passenger compartment has a huge opening.

The rear seats fold down, and there is a vertical partition above the backs, the removal of which allows you to make the opening even larger and carry bulky luggage.

So the Polestar 4 is a cross between a lifeback and a fastback.

And in terms of size and price, the “four” is located between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 models.

The wheelbase is an impressive 2999 mm, overall length is 4839 mm.

The machine has frameless doors and a standard glass roof without a sliding section.

For a surcharge, glass can be electrochromic — with a variable degree of transparency. Wheels — 20 or 22 inches in diameter.

The Quartet, although built on the same modular SEA platform as the Polestar 3 crossover, are technically different.

The Polestar 4 comes standard with a conventional spring suspension, air bellows are offered as an option, and the all-wheel drive version is constantly running not the front, but the rear electric motor.

The transmission of the front engine is complemented by a clutch that opens when driving on the highway.

And no thrust vectoring: the rear motor drives the wheels through a conventional differential.

The all-wheel drive Polestar 4 has become the most powerful electric vehicle in the range (544 hp), although in terms of torque it is noticeably inferior to the “troika” (686 Nm).

Such an electric car can accelerate to “hundreds” in 3.8 seconds. For an extra charge, the Performance package is offered, which includes a reconfigured chassis, Brembo front brakes with four-piston mechanisms and golden decor.

The rear-wheel drive Polestar 4 has 272 hp. and 343 Nm. Both modifications are equipped with a lithium-ion traction battery with a capacity of 102 kWh.

Passport range according to the WLTP cycle is 600 km for the rear-wheel drive version and 560 km for the all-wheel drive version.

There are AC (22 kW) and DC (200 kW) chargers.

A second level autopilot is also provided, which has 12 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and only one radar.

The salon, like other Polestar models, is decorated in the spirit of minimalism. On the front panel there is a dashboard screen (10.2 inches), a media system touchscreen (15.4 inches) and a projection display (14.7 inches), and there are almost no physical buttons.

But there is … a saloon rear-view mirror. Despite the absence of a rear window, this is a mirror with a built-in screen, to which the image from the rear camera on the roof is transmitted.

The video broadcast can be turned off, and then through the mirror you can, for example, watch the children in the back seat.

The interior trim is made from recycled and plant-based materials: the base fabric is made from waste plastic, and even the optional nappa leather is completely artificial.

Rear sofa — with adjustable backrest and a separate touch screen to control the microclimate and heating. The number of airbags reaches nine.

Polestar 4 will be produced only in China, and the start of production is scheduled only this autumn.

In November, sales will begin in China, and exports to other countries are scheduled for 2024 only. Approximate prices — from 60 thousand dollars or euros.
