2021 Porsche Taycan: AWD four-door premium sedan.
The German concern Porsche is launching a new model of a four-door sedan — Porsche Taycan 2021 on the global premium electric vehicle market — Porsche Taycan 2021.

Developed on the basis of the proprietary prototype of the Porsche Mission E, the new model lineup offers a large number of exclusive design solutions, dynamic driving characteristics, as well as expanded functionality of the standard technical and electronic equipment.

According to leading experts, the new generation electric sedan is not a restyling of the prototype in the «liftback» body, but the result of the successful implementation of a special project. In the list of structural and layout features of the sedan:

• low sports body fit;

• the minimum aerodynamic drag coefficient in its class;

• a wide range of additional functional and comfort-forming options.

At the initial stage, the new model will be available in top-end versions: Taycan Turbo and Turbo S. The release of the base version and intermediate modification has been postponed to a later date.

Exterior

The body design of the premium electric car, with minor changes, is copied from the Panamera branded liftback.

The most stylish and dynamic Taikan sample of 2021 looks in the photo in frontal projection. In the design of the front end, pronounced elements of the classic racing layout are used. In sight:

• sports tilt of the panoramic windshield;

• raised fenders and longitudinal aerodynamic profiles of the inclined bonnet;

• two-tier blocks of stylish LED or top-end matrix optics.

The lower segment of the massive front end includes ribbed reliefs of the protruding bumper, vertical ventilation diffusers and a large-format trapezoid of the combined air intake tightened with a fine-mesh mesh.

The new sedan body looks stylish and attractive in profile. In stock: a steeply sloping roofline to the stern, glossy black plastic of the side window trim, modern mirrors, high wheel arches and the original corporate design of titanium discs. A small amount of ribbed aerodynamic relief and sills are used as decoration.

On the back, the 2021 Porsche Taycan electric car is recognizable:

• according to the exclusive graphics of compact lamps connected by a bright LED jumper;

• silver nameplates of the embossed luggage compartment lid supplemented by a retractable spoiler;

• the arrangement of the fog lamps and the configuration of the ventilation diffuser.

The appearance of the novelty contains a successful combination of the traditional corporate style and modern design developments.

Interior

The spacious five-seater interior of Taikana 2021 provides the driver and passengers with the highest level of road comfort for a premium car.

The finishing assortment is dominated by natural and environmentally impeccable materials, including perforated leather and decorative inserts made of fine wood and polished aluminum. The interior and equipment of the cabin are unique in all respects.

• Almost all command functions are concentrated on the multifunction buttons and sensors of several multi-profile LCD monitors.

• The basic configuration of the tunnel offers a set of cup holders and service organizers, including a refrigerator located under a wide comfortable armrest.

• The salon equipment includes advanced characteristics of a media and entertainment complex, electronic assistants and the most effective active safety systems.

The sports front seats of the new bucket-type electric car are equipped with standard service functions for premium cars, lumbar-transverse support, heating systems, vibration massage and seat ventilation.

Depending on the layout of the cabin, the rear seats are designed as a comfortable three-seater sofa with a folding armrest or four individual seats.

The top versions are equipped with 7-inch displays built into the front headrests for viewing the infotainment video by the passengers of the rear sofa.

The relatively small volume of the 366-liter main trunk partially compensates for the spaciousness of the additional 80-liter compartment located under the hood.

Specifications

In the design features of the electric sedan:

• formatted in proportional parameters 4963 x 1966 and 1381 external dimensions;

• new proprietary platform Premium Platform Electric;

• lithium-ion storage battery of modular type built into the floor frame with an operating voltage of 800 volts and an energy capacity of more than 93 kW.

The all-wheel drive chassis with a base of 2900 mm, a ground clearance of 150 mm and an independent link suspension is equipped with two electric motors with a transverse arrangement, with a total power of 625 hp.

An independent test drive showed the time to gain the first hundred — 3.2 seconds and a maximum speed of up to 260 km / h.

The length of the run on a single charge in different running modes varies in the range from 380 to 450 km, the recovery time of the battery’s energy capacity to 80% from the proprietary charging complex has been reduced to 23 minutes.

Options and prices

In the European market, the new Porsche Taikan 2021 model year is announced in four versions. The price of different versions of the lineup will vary from 150 to 185 thousand dollars.

Competing models

The exclusive status of the 2021 Porsche Taikan premium electric car reduces the list of real rivals to a few names. The top lines are occupied by the new versions of the Tesla Model S and Lexus ES Hybrid.
