Radford Lotus Type 62-2 2022. A triumph of analog design: the interior of the Radford Lotus Type 62-2 supercar has been revealed.

The British H.Radford company has published pictures of the interior of their first and so far the only model Type 62-2 based on a relatively modern Lotus Evora but inspired by the Lotus Type 62 racing sports car from the 60s.

H.Radford is the revived efforts of racer Jenson Button, broadcaster Ant Anstead, designer Mark Stubbs and entrepreneur Roger Bechle.

Atelier was founded in 1948 by Harold Radford and became famous for remaking stock cars for the stars of show business, but went bankrupt in the mid-70s because of a sharp drop in demand for exclusive cars.

Now such demand, on the contrary, is growing by leaps and bounds, and H.Radford is now positioned as a full-fledged carmaker.

In August the company presented supercar Lotus Type 62-2, built with aluminum monocoque and power unit from Lotus Evora (by the way, this model has been already removed from production and gave way to more modern Emira coupe).

The Type 62-2 has a new, stiffer rear subframe, where the rear suspension is mounted, completely original carbon fiber exterior panels, and a completely new interior, which the developers kept secret until yesterday.

Published pictures show the interior of the most powerful version of JPS (John Player Special), the name of which refers to the titular tobacco sponsor of the Lotus racing team in the 70s.

This version is equipped with a 3.5-liter gasoline V6, boosted to 608 hp and docked to a six-speed manual transmission (as an option offered a seven-speed «robot» with two clutches), which through a self-locking differential with electronic control sends power to the rear wheels.

H.Radford plans to release only 12 copies of the supercar in JPS version, while the total run of the model will be 62 copies (there are also basic version Classic with 436 hp and Gold Leaf with 507 hp).

The strictly two-seat interior (the original Evora has a 2+2 seating arrangement), as you can see, perfectly conveys the spirit of the ’60s with its minimalism in decoration and large shiny toggle switches.

The Type 62-2 is no stranger to modern technology. It has an adjustable 6-inch virtual dashboard and three electronic rearview mirrors (images from exterior cameras are streamed to three displays).

There is no multimedia system as such: its role is performed by a smartphone owner, music from which is broadcast to the regular audio system (5 speakers) via Bluetooth.

The door cards are finished with «naked» carbon fiber, the role of door handles is performed by straps. The gear lever is not covered with a cover and deliberately demonstrates the mechanism.

Near it, the classical handle sticks out from carbon-fiber plastic tunnel.

But the main decoration of the cabin is the front panel with a dial clock and stopwatch, developed specially for this model by the British watchmaker Bremont and housed in a massive metal case.

H.Radford has not yet announced prices or dynamic characteristics of the three versions of the Type 62-2, but confirms that production will begin at the end of this year and that the first finished units will be shipped to customers next year.
