The new 7-seater crossover Renault Espace: appearance, engines and the exact timing of the debut.

Renault recently confirmed that the new 7-seat crossover, which is a stretched version of the Austral, will be named the Espace.

That is, this model will replace the previously popular large minivan.

The new 2023 Renault Espace has already entered road tests, which revealed some of the design features implemented in this car.

Now the exact timing of the debut of the French model has become known.

The novelty will be presented in the spring of 2023. This was officially announced by representatives of Renault.

But despite the imminent debut of the car, little is known about it.

Even published photos only partially reveal its appearance, as the crossover is still covered in dense camouflage.

Probably, most of the design solutions that were previously implemented in Austral will be prepared for the novelty.

This is indicated by the characteristic configuration of the head optics with a long and curving LED strip that runs from below.

The similarity between the models can be traced in the design features of the front of the body.

Espace has the same large grille here.

But unlike Austral, its pattern is formed by vertical bars. The front bumper also includes a long air intake.

It is reported that the Espace is based on the new CMF-CD platform, designed for different types of powertrains.

The French model is promised several hybrid options, including a «soft» one. Each of them is combined with an automatic transmission.

Four-wheel drive for the French model is not provided. Renault noted that when promoting the car, the company will rely on its spacious interior.

There are no big details about the future crossover, but there is enough information on the Web about what to prepare for.

Previously, the car fell into the lenses of photo spies, which showed its resemblance to the Austral that debuted last year.

The novelty will be built on the CMF-CD platform and will have much in common with both the Austral itself and the Nissan X-Trail, as well as the Mitsubishi Outlander.

In the model line of the brand, the novelty will be located one step higher than Austral.

It will be larger in size, and will also receive more premium options and improved trim materials. By the way, earlier it was assumed that this car will be called Grand Austral.

There are also some assumptions regarding the power capabilities of the model.

First of all, we don’t think Renault fit into a bigger, heavier car.

Espace 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, electrified with mild hybrid technology, producing 130 hp.

It is more likely that the model will be equipped with a 1.3-liter turbo engine with 4 cylinders and a return of 140 hp. But the top power plant is much more interesting.

It can become a plug-in hybrid E-Tech Hybrid. It combines a 1.2-liter fuel-powered internal combustion engine as well as an electric motor.

The total power of such a system reaches 200 hp. but most importantly, it offers an all-wheel drive system.
