Renault Kiger: production version of the subcompact SUV.
In November of the twentieth, Renault presented a concept version of the compact crossover Kiger, and at the beginning of the twenty-first year, the production version of this model, developed primarily with an eye to the Indian market, was premiered.
On the way to the Renault Kiger 2021 series, it lost most of its striking design solutions. In particular, the French abandoned the unifying headlights LED strip and massive linings on the wheel arches. Plus, the SUV received larger side mirror housings and standard door handles.
The roof rack of the car is also not placed — instead of it there are ordinary roof rails, and from the simplifications at the stern, it is worth noting the fancy exhaust pipe that fell under the knife, which was installed right in the center on the concept.
In addition, the developers ditched the futuristic 19 «wheels in favor of the simpler and more practical 16» wheels.
Despite numerous simplifications, the product Renault Kiger remained recognizable. The subcompact crossover retains full LED optics and a large spoiler on the fifth door, and for an additional charge, a two-tone body paint is offered for such a car.
Keiger’s modern interior features a 7.0-inch virtual set and 8.0-inch Bluetooth multimedia with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
There is also an Arkamys Auditorium 3D audio system with eight speakers and climate control. There is a wireless charger for a smartphone, and an air purification system can be ordered for a surcharge.
However, all this is due exclusively to the top-end configuration, while in the base the car is equipped with standard tidy and conventional air conditioning. There are four airbags here (and on all versions without exception).
The interior of the French off-road vehicle has five seats, while the middle passenger in the second row only has a lap seat belt, and there is no central headrest.
The French note that passengers can use the numerous containers for storing small items, the total volume of which reaches 29 liters.
The new Renault Kiger 2021 builds on a stretched and reinforced version of the CMF-A front-wheel drive platform that powers the Kwid and Triber, as well as the Nissan Magnite.
The French purposefully made a car less than four meters long (3,991 mm), since in India a preferential tax rate applies to such cars.
At the same time, the car reaches 1,750 mm in width, 1,600 in height, and its wheelbase is 2,500 millimeters.
The ground clearance is stated at 203 mm, although the concept was 210 mm. Trunk volume — 405 liters (879 liters — with folded backs of the rear row).
For the basic version of the SUV, a three-cylinder aspirated liter with 72 hp is announced. and 96 Nm. The motor can work both with a five-speed mechanics and a robot with one clutch.
As an alternative, the proposed «turbotroyka» of the same volume for 100 forces and 160 Nm of torque. Cars with such an engine are equipped with either the aforementioned mechanics or a variator.
The French do not talk about the dynamics of the SUV, but the Kiger weighs only 1,012 kg, which means that the declared motors should be enough for it.
In the Indian market, sales of the model will start in the near future, although prices have not yet been announced.
