Rolls-Royce Phantom 2022.

The updated Rolls-Royce Phantom: steel wheels and cloth instead of leather.

If we recall that the sixth generation Rolls-Royce Phantom has been in the range for 22 years, the current, «eighth» Phantom of 2017 is still quite fresh.

But it still underwent a slight planned update.

The company carefully avoids the terms «restyling» or «facelift», preferring to call it a second series model.

In reality, though, the Phantom Series II has only had minor changes from the original machine.

For example, the Phantom’s running lights are replaced with a broad LED strip along the top edge of the headlamps and grille.

In addition, the grille itself can now be ordered illuminated.

There are new wheels, and now they are not light-alloy, but steel!

But it is clear that this is not a cheap «stamping»: the three-dimensional drawing is made from a solid «dummy».

And wheels with a flat surface are available to order — in the Rolls-Royce style of the twenties.

Finally, the fashionable dark body décor (instead of chrome) is allocated to the complex package: buyers order such trim so often that it became easier to make the «black décor» a separate option.

The changes in the cabin are even less. The rim of the steering wheel became slightly thicker, and more on the Phantom second series debuted media system Rolls-Royce Connected with a wide range of branded online services, telematics and the ability to connect remotely from a smartphone.

Apparently, this complex will soon appear on other models.

Finally, the company began to actively promote an alternative to the leather interior.

For demonstration purposes, an exclusive Rolls-Royce Phantom Platino sedan, which is entirely made in light colors, is built.

Its rear saloon is trimmed with two types of expensive and high-quality fabric, and ceramics is used instead of wood veneer.

However, the front seats are «leather». How not to recall the Soviet ZILs, where the rear seats were upholstered in expensive velour and the front ones in simple vinyl.

There are no technical changes. Phantom Series II is equipped with a 6.75-liter V12 biturbo engine (571 hp), eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive.

The company does not plan to use the Ghost and Cullinan as a four-wheel drive option. The updated sedan is already available for order.
