Skoda Fabia 2021: an attractive version of the urban hatchback
At the beginning of the spring season of 2021, the premiere of the Czech hatchback Skoda Fabia 2021, claiming to be the best-selling hatchback, will take place.
The layout and equipment of the hatchback, which is successful in all respects, will become the basis for new developments in the «crossover» and «station wagon» bodies. By the manufacturer, the new Fabia model of 2021 is positioned as a practical and inexpensive car for a youth or small-family profile.
Appearance
Judging by the photos taken from different angles, recognizable details of the sports style are successfully used in the corporate body design. This is confirmed by:
• ribbed sidewalls of the inclined hood;
• improved front end aerodynamics;
• wide format of the lower ventilation duct complemented by vertical diffusers.
The dynamic perception of the new Fabia model is formed by the low landing of the massive front end and the angular configuration of the front optics units.
The characteristic features of the recognizable corporate style are preserved in the sidewall construct. In frontal projection, the Skoda Fabia 2021 demonstrates the classic body silhouette with a sloping roof, a massive, elongated front end and a vertical cut of a short stern. In sight:
• harmonious combination of chrome-plated window sills and black plastic perimeter of side windows;
• stylish pentagons for side mirrors;
• longitudinal wave and stepped profiles of the branded relief;
• correct geometry of slightly inflated wheel arches and non-standard pattern of silver 17-inch wheels.
In the rear layout, the new body shows the advantages of a crossover style. In the presence of the traditional combination of a narrow spoiler and tilted glazing of a compact luggage compartment lid, an original configuration of universal stop-and-light and fog optics.
In a typical configuration of a wide bumper, a plastic body kit with horizontal exhaust tips spaced apart on the sidewalls. The rear is decorated with chrome nameplates and dynamic stepped relief elements.
The manufacturer promises 15 variants of paintwork, including combined, body decor, several wheel models and a list of additional paid options.

In the new generation, the Skoda Fabia 2021 will delight you with the improved quality and variety of materials in the interior finishing and decoration assortment. To a lesser extent, the upgrade affected the design and layout solutions.
The spokes-free upper segment of the semi-sports multifunction steering wheel, supplemented with command functions, opens a full-size view of the combined analog-digital instrument panel, complete with pointer indicators and an informative color monitor of the on-board computer.
• The upper part of the three-storey console is occupied by a double block of adjustable ventilation ducts.
• In the middle there is a medium format display that combines command, navigation and media functions.
• The lower tier includes a control panel with a large number of activation elements and operational adjustment of standard, including those forming comfort, options.
The list of top options includes tandems: climate and cruise control, driver fatigue monitoring and traffic monitoring with emergency braking function. The list of paid equipment includes a multimedia complex with improved output characteristics, parking sensors and advanced dashboard functionality.
A compact tunnel with a technical platform, organizers and opening access to a spacious glove compartment and a folding armrest is copied from its predecessor without significant changes.
There are practically no criticisms of the comfort and safety of all five seats. Service for the most comfortable and equipped front seats offers head restraints, effective lateral support, heated seats and a standard range of adjustments.
The design of the rear three-seater sofa allows you to adjust the backrest tilt, as well as transform the middle seat into a folding armrest.
The increase in the body dimensions of the hatchback did not affect the capacity of the 260-liter trunk. The problem of transporting bulky goods is solved by partial dismantling of the rear seats, respectively, by increasing the volume to 1225 liters.
Specifications
The overall characteristics of the updated Fabia are formatted in proportional terms of length, width and height: 4007×1732 and 1457 mm. The budget price level of the model affects the comfort of the suspension, front strut MacPherson and rear torsion bar.
• In the design features of the chassis — a moderate length of 2470 mm center base, ground clearance of 135 mm, a typical set of safety systems and disc brakes.
• At the initial stage, the Skoda Fabia 2021 will provide a choice of six power units, with volumes from 1 to 1.4 liters and with a passport power output from 60 to 110 hp.
• Internal combustion engine components include 6-speed manual gearboxes or 7-band automated transmissions.
The test drive did not find any significant discrepancies with the declared and real parameters, the drawbacks were sluggish dynamics of the speed set of models with small cubic power units.
Options and prices
Taking into account the technical and electronic equipment, as well as the characteristics of the power unit, the price of the base model and top versions will vary from 0.75 to 1.2 million rubles.
Sales start in Russia
The release date in Russia will be announced after the European March 2021 presentation of the future. According to preliminary information, the new Skoda Fabia 2021 model year in modifications for the domestic market will be available at the end of the third — beginning of the fourth quarter.
