Skoda has brought out on tests updated Octavia: the first photos.

The Czech brand is testing the novelty in two body variants.

Judging by the pictures taken during the tests of prototypes in Austria, the changes will mainly affect the front end and the rear.

Most likely Skoda will follow classical scenario and will update Octavia’s radiator grille, front and rear optics and also bumpers.

It looks like there will be some changes inside, but we don’t have photos of the interior yet.

Motor1.com notes that the novelty has caught the lens of spy cameras for the first time, so most likely the tests are in the early stages.

That means the premiere of the model can’t wait until the second half of next year.

With a high degree of probability restyled Skoda Octavia will debut as a car of 2024 model year.

In Russia the Octavia is presented only as a liftback body, while in Europe also a station wagon with the prefix Combi in the name is available.

Last year the head of the Russian division of Skoda Jan Prohazka explained that the automaker has no opportunity to localize the production of station wagon in the country and bring the model from abroad would be too expensive, which would inevitably be reflected in the price Octavia.

The liftback Octavia for the Russian market, as well as the Volkswagen Taos, Kodiaq and Karoq, is produced at the facilities of GAZ Group in Nizhny Novgorod.

The assembly of the cars was put on hold in March, and in early June it became known that Volkswagen was laying off workers at that plant.

The fact is that GAZ was put on the sanctions list of the US Ministry of Finance, and the European legal entities that cooperate with the companies subject to the US sanctions fall under the secondary sanctions.

Thus, this actually puts an end to the possible resumption of foreign cars assembly at the Nizhny Novgorod plant.
