Skoda has presented a restored Octavia RS Bonneville liftback, which is the fastest car in the history of the Czech brand: in 2011 at the Bonneville Salt Lake this five-door accelerated to 366 km / h.

The developers decided to restore such an iconic car for the company to the 10-year anniversary of the speed record set by the car in the G/PS category.

The last includes the passenger cars, built on the basis of serial models and equipped with a turbo engine volume of two liters. By the way, the record in this category is still held by the Czech brand.

The fastest car Skoda was constructed on the basis of a liftback Octavia RS of the second generation. In due time it took the Czechs only a few months to create such car.

The car-record holder differs from donor five-door by a flashy painting of a body with number «10» on chrome sides.

The car also has a black hood and roof with a light blue stripe.

Technical stuffing of the production model has undergone serious modifications, and the engineers of the British division of the Czech brand were engaged in fine-tuning of the car.

Skoda Octavia RS Bonneville is equipped with a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, the output of which was raised to 600 hp. It was possible to achieve the necessary result by installing a Garrett turbocharger.

Powered engine works in tandem with the Octavia GreenLine gearbox, which had lengthened the fifth and sixth gears.

In addition, a unique modification can boast the presence of an additional 10-liter radiator and new fuel injectors.

Just a few days ago, Skoda became the fastest production car with a 2-liter turbocharged engine in the world.

During high-speed races on the Bonneville Salt Desert in Utah, USA, a specially prepared version of Octavia RS Bonneville has set a new speed record — 365 km/h (227.08 mph).

On August 19, 2011 at 7:45 a.m. local time, just days after the car passed the 200 mph (321.87 km/h) threshold on the same track, the 600-hp Skoda race car set a new record.

The reason for participating in the famous race was the ten-year anniversary of the line of sports models Skoda.

The previous speed record — 347 km/h (216 mph), was set in 1998.

Thirteen years later, the Czech brand managed to break that mark at 18 km/h (11 mph). The Southern California Timing Association officially recognized the new achievement.

The car, driven by Briton Richard Meaden, took part in Bonneville’s Speed Week festival August 13 to 20.

To everyone’s surprise, Meaden accelerated the Octavia to 227 mph on a five-kilometer track.
