Fresh spy photos of the new crossover of the American brand were published in the Network this week, thanks to which we have an opportunity to imagine how the car will look.

The name Hornet was already used by Dodge before, that’s how the compact concept introduced in 2006 was called (pictures at the end of the article).

By 2010, they planned to bring the model to assembly line, but financial crisis and restructuring of Chrysler did not allow it.

Now a production car with the same name is being prepared for the premiere, but it will not have anything in common with the concept of the mid-2000s.

Judging by spy photos, the novelty is a slightly modified crossover Alfa Romeo Tonale, which was officially presented in February this year.

The Dodge variant has the original front part made in stylistics of other models of the company: a narrow grille, visually combined with headlights, a slot under it, a bumper with a large trapezoidal air intake and vertical decorative inserts on the sides.

The headlights have almost the same shape as the Tonale, but the graphics of the LED running lights here is original and more simple compared with the Alfa Romeo.

The sides are likely to be identical in the crossovers, no significant changes are expected at the back too (apart from logos), partially hidden by camouflage test samples have no visible differences from the Italian crossover at all.

However, we pictured a variant with new rear optics, made in the style of other Dodge models.

Like the Alfa Romeo Tonale, the Hornet crossover will be built on Fiat’s FCA Small Wide platform.

Most likely, their engine range will also overlap. The Italian crossover is equipped in the base version with a 130-horsepower turbocharged 1.6 diesel engine and a front-wheel drive.

We also expect the hybrid version PHEV, at the heart of which the gasoline «turbo four» MultiAir with a volume of 1.3 liters (goes in tandem with 6ACP), which drives the front wheels; at the rear axis is located 122 hp electric motor.

The total capacity of the system is 275 hp, range on electric power is about 60 km.

The novelty will be premiered before the end of this year.
