Toyota Crown 2023 may get a plug-in hybrid version.

Japanese have declassified the new Toyota Crown 2023: from now on it is not only a sedan.

In the middle of July 22nd, premiere of the new (already sixteenth) generation Toyota Crown 2023 took place. Previously this model was only a sedan, but now it is offered in four body types.

In addition to the usual form factor, the choice is offered cross-sedan, elevated hatchback and a real crossover.

Curiously, in terms of exterior design the car now echoes the model bZ4X (it has the same front end with narrow headlights and large air intakes).

The new Toyota Crown 2023 body has black body perimeter overlays and a heavily sloped windshield.

Its loin is notable for a miniature spoiler, a narrow strip of lights, as well as a streamlined bumper without recesses for exhaust system nozzles.

Note that the senior model is available in two-color package Platinum, where shades of Oxygen White (white), Heavy Metal (gray), Supersonic Red (red) and Bronze Age (bronze) are combined with a black hood, roof and trunk lid.

As for the wheels, they on the sedan and its other versions can be 19 or 21 inches.

In general, the design of the exterior of the new Toyota Crown 2023 turned out to be quite controversial.

In this regard, the interior looks much more laconic. The front panel of the car has 12.3-inch digital dashboard and the same display of Toyota Audio Multimedia information complex.

The latter has cloud navigation, voice-activated Intelligent Assistant and an update function «over the air».

In the basic XLE package, the interior comes with a combined fabric and Softex material trim.

For the front seats, heating and electric adjustments in eight directions are available.

Plus, an audio system with six speakers, wireless charging for smartphones, and dual-zone climate control will please the passengers.

The next following Limited version has leather front seats with heating and ventilation, as well as heated rear seats. This car also has a fixed panoramic roof and premium music JBL with 11 speakers.

The top Platinum package is equipped with an advanced auto parker and Adaptive Variable Suspension.

Outside it can be recognized by the presence of black accents. The new Toyota Crown 2023 is built on the TNGA-K platform.

The car has McPherson type suspension at the front and a new multi-spring at the rear.

Dimensions are announced only for the cross-sedan, which reaches a length of 4,928 mm, width — 1,839 mm, and height — 1,539 mm. Distance between its axles is 2,850 mm.

The model is powered by a hybrid power plant. In the base the last one consists of a 2.5-liter «four» and two electric motors that get energy from nickel-metal hydride battery.

The declared output is 186 hp. There is more powerful version Hybrid Max, where 2.4-liter «turbo four» is installed instead of the atmospheric.

In this case, the unit capacity reaches 345 horsepower.

All versions of Toyota Crown 2023 can be equipped with all-wheel drive system E-Four with an additional electric motor on the rear axle.

At that, a car in the Platinum configuration will be equipped with E-Four Advanced AWD system, which can transfer up to 80% of traction to the rear.

It is reported that XLE and Limited versions have driver’s presets Eco, Normal and Sport. The Premium version adds Custom, Comfort and Sport+ modes to this list, with the latter allegedly making the handling sharper.

Plus, a wide range of electronic assists are available for the car, including a collision warning system and a function of road sign recognition.

A number of «Toyota Safety Connect» services with a year’s subscription is also available for the car. It is known that in Japan it will be possible to buy the new Toyota Crown 16 at a price of 4,350,000 to 6,050,000 yen (from 1.8 to 2.5 million rubles at the current exchange rate).

In addition, the model will be available in many other countries around the world, including the U.S., where it has not been sold in almost 60 years.
