Volkswagen Atlas 2020: restyling of the crossover of the famous Teramont model in Russia (price and specifications).
The Chicago car dealership was incredibly rich in surprises. One of them was the fresh restyling of a large crossover from Volkswagen — Atlas, which we are slowly selling under the name Teramont.

The novelty turned out to be too interesting not to talk about it, because in addition to the new engine, now the SUV will flaunt new body elements and electronic assistants that the 2016 generation did not see.

Specifications

The MQB platform has remained in place. Independent suspension — front MacPherson strut, rear multi-link spring. Brakes — disc with ventilation and front and rear.
The transmission used to be a choice, now only an 8-band automatic is available. It is also worth mentioning the presence of ABS, ESP, ASR, EDL, EDTC and ICRS.

Drive, both front axle and full (plug-in clutch).
Atlas engine range has been updated from part. In addition, all-wheel drive can now optionally be connected to any engine in any configuration.

The first will be a 2-liter turbo unit at 238 hp. at 350 Hm, the second — a 3.6-liter aspirated V6 at 280 hp at 360 Hm.
Interestingly, the turbo engine was initially available in our market, but in America, where it was going to be, it was not presented.

Appearance

With the body, everything is not so simple. Volkswagen has recycled almost every part of it, while the concept has remained unchanged. Most of all has changed in front of the crossover, while the rest of the manufacturer only slightly “played around” with the architecture of body kits, decorative elements and designer ribs.

From the front you can see the following the general style of the latest models of the brand. The radiator grill and head optics are now tightly tied in one block. The first also got more chrome.

The huge curb, which was previously part of the body kit architecture, is now highlighted in silver, which is why the 2020 VW Atlas (Teramont) look immediately became more serious.
On the side, massive blown arches also stand out, which makes the crossover seem even wider. The roof shows silver roof rails to match the same color of the curb.

The window frame is trimmed with chrome decor. The wheels are initially represented by 21 inches with fairly wide spokes, which once again emphasizes the massiveness of the car.

The sterns were also revised accents. In particular, the chrome bridge between the corrected position lights has become even longer, the same applies to stop lights. On the bumper, the main change is the chrome-plated rims of the trapezoidal nozzles.

Salon

When you look at the Volkswagen Atlas from the outside and try to characterize it in one word, nothing comes to mind, but if you look into the salon it immediately becomes clear — this is the word «restraint».

Along the perimeter there are wooden linings, the torpedo architecture strives for symmetry, the multimedia screen goes in one block with ventilation deflectors, the central tunnel meets a deep niche where wireless charging has settled in the top configuration, followed by two cup holders in parallel with the transmission unit and the audio control washer.

The end of the tunnel is visible only in the back row, where it breaks off with climate control deflectors and USB ports. It makes no sense to say that the front seats and rear sofas are as wide as Theramont himself.

Price and sales start date

In 2019, only 2595 copies were sold on the domestic market, while in the United States this figure exceeds 81 thousand. Nevertheless, VW will introduce the new Teramont in Russia.

Delivery times and preliminary prices have not yet been announced. Today, the basic equipment of the 2016 generation is sold for 3 million rubles.
