The Volkswagen Golf R 2022 is a sharp new German hatchback.
German car concern Volkswagen has presented the most powerful release of the «charged» hatchback Golf R 2022.
The novelty is equipped with a boosted up to 320 hp engine, an improved all-wheel-drive platform and reconfigured suspension.
Previously Germans have presented «heated» model Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk8, so all fans of the brand expected debut of another version in the maximum configuration.
Soon the representatives of Volkswagen shared information about the new hatchback, which will be able to gain acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.
Other interesting updates include an improved 4Motion all-wheel drive system with flexible electronic control, selective adjustment of traction between the wheel axles, as well as a new rear differential.
Appearance
The exterior of the modified «R» looks quite sporty and assertive, although many motorists expected more aggression in the body design.
All five generations of the Volkswagen Golf R have permanent all-wheel drive, individual styling and exclusive sports equipment.
Like the other members of the lineup, the Golf R 2022 is offered in a 5-door version, and in the American market the model will be available with a sunroof even as standard.
Externally, the Volkswagen Golf R 2022 can be identified by the glossy black inserts that have been used to decorate the front air intakes and the diffuser at the rear.
Also in the «heated» hatchback there are stylishly designed exhaust pipes in the number of 4 pieces.
They have a round configuration and sporty design.
Other exterior features include a matte finish on the surface of the exterior mirrors with decorative chrome, a blue LED line over the grille and optics, as well as blue brake calipers with R-series emblem.
New 18- to 19-inch wheel rims were also designed for the new hatchback. The range of body colors includes the following shades:
Lapiz Blue Metallic;
Deep Black Pearl Effect;
Pure White.
The front bumper has been redesigned. It is decorated with air intake holes made in the R-concept, a sports splitter and gloss black framing.
An important object of the front projection is the blue stripe running between the fenders.
It is used as daytime running lights and lights up when the engine is started.
When the doors are opened or closed, the R logo is shown on the surface. The rear bumper is equipped with a glossy diffuser, and the base exhaust has chrome spigots.
Volkswagen Golf R interior 2022
The interior of the most powerful hatchback is dominated by a special decor with blue accents, carbon fiber trim on some elements and branded R-Class symbols.
The driver’s and front passenger’s seats are covered with Nappa leather, and the steering wheel has convenient paddles.
You can use them to control the robotized transmission and switch between driving modes via the R button.
There are two information displays in the front:
The adjustable Digital Cockpit dashboard;
10-inch touchscreen display of the Discover Pro multimedia platform.
On the second monitor, you can see the welcome message when landing. The background illumination has 30 shades and supports fast synchronization with the multimedia complex.
The layout of the instruments looks almost the same as in the previous «heated» version. An interesting addition is a special Sport Skin counter, where you can see the information about revolutions.
The digital dashboard displays the following data:
transmission temperature;
turbocharger pressure;
traction distribution in the four-wheel drive system;
lap timer.
The steering wheel has a sleek, sporty frame and touch-sensitive elements with haptic feedback. Such features allow you to quickly switch driving modes.
The rear row of seats is particularly comfortable and ergonomic. In addition, there are cupholders for the sofa seat (there are none in the front) and heating.
Technical characteristics of the Volkswagen Golf R 2022.
In the hood of the new Volkswagen Golf R 2022 we can find a turbocharged two-liter TSI EA888 engine, which shows a huge amount of power — 320 hp and 420 Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with a six-speed «manual» or a DSG robotized gearbox with seven speeds.
The car is based on all-wheel drive platform 4Motion, which has a rear differential with traction vectoring. When accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, the car can reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
