Volkswagen has its own electric line — ID — and it continues to develop it very actively.

The firstborn of the family turned out to be the five-door hatchback ID.3, its sales on the old world market began in September 2020.

In less than a year (from September 2020 to June 2021), the Eurohatch sold 86,009 copies.

Later, in December last year, the first crossover of the «green» line — ID.4 — reached dealerships, its result for the first seven months of sales was 28,447 cars.

A «charged» version of the model is now available — ID.4 GTX, we talked about it earlier.

Recall that during the presentation of ID.4 GTX the Germans also decided to tease the fans of the brand, including a teaser for another «battery» novelty — the coupe-like crossover Volkswagen ID.5.

The company is now preparing to unveil a charged version of this car, the ID.5 GTX. True, in the near future we will see only a prototype of the future novelty.

The German company intends to unveil a pre-production version of its coupe-like electric crossover next month at the Munich International Auto Show.

The premiere will take place on September 7. It is expected that the commercial version will eventually almost completely duplicate the prototype.

Most likely, the front end of the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX is the same as that of the «charged» version of the ID.4., But, of course, the roofline of the novelty will be more sloping. In addition, the crossover with a coupe-like body will receive a modified stern and tailgate, LED taillights of a different shape and a different spoiler.

The «filling» of the hot version of the ID.5 SUV is probably the same as that of the ID.4 GTX.

Recall that the car has a four-wheel drive, on each axle there is an electric motor.

The total output of this power plant is 300 hp. A «warmed» crossover with a traditional roof accelerates from zero to «hundred» in 6.2 seconds.

The maximum speed is electronically limited to 180 km / h.

Note that the simple ID.5 technology is probably simpler: we are talking about a single 204-horsepower electric motor mounted on the rear axle.

The dynamic characteristics have not yet been declassified either.

The ID.4 with the same electric motor takes 8.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h, and its maximum speed is 160 km / h.

The SUVs are based on the same modular MEB platform as the ID.3 hatchback.

The start of production of the serial version of ID.5 and ID.5 GTX SUVs is scheduled for next year.

Prices, even approximate ones, have not yet been named.

On the home market, the starting price tag of ID.4 is 37,415 euros (equivalent to about 3.23 million rubles at the current exchange rate), and the ID.4 GTX can be purchased for at least 50 415 euros (about 4.36 million rubles).
