A few days ago, Chinese automotive online publications have published a set of renderings of the new generation sedan Volkswagen Santana 2023.
We should say that the update of this model is overdue for a long time, as it began to lose popularity to its main rival Honda Fit.
It is reported that the new generation Volkswagen Santana is expected to be equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine.
It is combined with a manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
At the same time, there are rumors that the manufacturer will also launch a model with a 1.5-liter turbocharged motor.
The power indices of such unit will be more than the current 1.4-liter supercharged engine, which in turn will expand the product line of the brand.
From the published images we can see that the front end of the Volkswagen Santana new generation is equipped with a split blackened grille decorated with horizontal chrome slats.
LED headlights of a different shape are provided on both sides.
On the side, a clear waist line connects the front and rear light groups.
At the same time, the rest of the sides are quite flat without excessive plastic transitions.
The rear of the car uses a concealed exhaust system, and the shape of the LED light group is similar to that on the Sagitar
The interior of the new car features a standard layout with a D-shaped multifunction steering wheel.
Along with this there will be placed a number of physical buttons.
The color scheme is sustained in soft beige and brown tones with the addition of wood trim.
If we talk about technical characteristics, on the market VW New Santana is offered with two power units to choose from (both petrol):
The first of the motors is a 1.4-liter, 90-horsepower unit that consumes only 5.9 liters of fuel per hundred miles in the mixed cycle.
The second, more powerful one is the 1.6-liter unit, which produces 110 horsepower. It is declared that it needs only 0.1 liter of gasoline more (per 100 kilometers) than a weaker motor.
Transmission two: manual five-speed or six-speed «automatic» (but it is available only for «senior» power unit).
Maximum speed of «Santana» — just over 180 km/h, and to reach 100 km/h is provided for 10.8 ~ 12.4 seconds (depending on modification).
