Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme Recon 2022. Jeep Wrangler has got an extreme off-road version of the Xtreme Recon.

Jeep has prepared an extreme version of the Xtreme Recon for the current generation Wrangler Rubicon SUV.

So far, the Americans only briefly talked about the new product, while the car should be presented to the public «live» at the July 2021 Chicago Auto Show (if it is not canceled).

It is known that the Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme Recon will be offered exclusively in a long wheelbase four-door design.

It differs from the standard model only in the chassis and transmission settings. In particular, the new item has increased the gear ratio of the demultiplier to 4.56: 1 (the usual Rubicon has 4: 1).

The car also has standard 17-inch wheels with beadlocks, which are «shod» in 35-inch BF Goodrich K02 off-road tires measuring 315/70.

For comparison, the standard model has 33-inch tires.

Plus, the extreme SUV has additional spacers and other shock absorbers, the presence of which made it possible to raise the body by 38 mm.

Taking into account the higher tires, the clearance of the modification increased to 328 mm (+ 54).

The car also improved its geometric cross-country ability: the approach angle increased to 47.4 degrees (+ 4.5), and the exit angle — to 40.4 (+ 3.4).

The depth of the ford to be overcome is now as much as 850 mm.

Interestingly, for a surcharge for the Wrangler Rubicon, Xstream Recon will also offer a demultiplier with an extreme gear ratio of 4.88: 1, which will be available for the regular model.

Thanks to this option, for cars with manual transmission, the final transmission ratio for the first time will reach 100: 1 (for versions with automatic transmission, it is slightly less).

Thus, in the first low gear, the SUV will be able to crawl at the speed of a turtle.

As for the line of powertrains, in the States, the modification can be ordered with any of the engines available for the regular Rubicon, including the top-end V8.

The release of the extreme version of the Americans will start in August twenty-first, although the mentioned optional demultiplier will not be available until the end of the year.

There is no information about the cost of new items yet.

But that’s not all. A separate option, which will be available for the regular Rubicon, is a demultiplier with an extreme gear ratio of 4.88: 1.

Thus, for cars with a manual transmission, the final transmission ratio for the first time will reach 100: 1 (with a «automatic» a little less).

This means that the torque on the wheels will be truly «diesel locomotive», and on the first lowered such Wrangler will be able to crawl at the speed of a turtle.

The Xtreme Recon version is offered only for long wheelbase four-door Wranglers, but it will be available in the US with any engine available for this model, including the flagship V8.

Production of these SUVs will begin in August, but it will not be possible to order a 4.88: 1 demultiplier until the end of the year.
