Supercar Lamborghini Huracan has got a new road version with the prefix STO in the name, which is an abbreviation for «Super Trofeo Omologate».

Interestingly, this modification was developed with the direct participation of the factory racing team Squadra Corse.

The construction of the Lamborghini Huracan STO uses far more carbon fiber than any other version of the model.

About 75% of the outer body panels and almost the entire aerodynamic body kit, including the stabilizer keel located above the engine compartment, are made of carbon here.

In the new Huracan STO, Lamborghini’s specialists have tried to achieve the most advanced «static» aerodynamics.

To do this, they redesigned the entire air intake system, as well as installed new spoilers and a rear wing.

The bumper, trunk lid and front fenders are a single piece here that folds forward in the style of a classic Lamborghini Miura.

Working on a new version of the model, the developers also relied on reducing the weight of the supercar.

They were able to achieve their goal precisely due to the widespread use of carbon fiber.

Plus, the car received lighter magnesium wheels with a central nut fastening and Brembo CCM-R racing brakes with carbon-ceramic discs.

In addition, the Italians abandoned the multimedia system and installed a thinner windshield on the supercar, which turned out to be 20% lighter than the standard one.

The combination of these measures made it possible to keep the dry weight of the two-door at around 1,339 kg, which is 43 kg lighter than the all-wheel drive version of the Performante.

The Lamborghini Huracan STO is powered by a standard naturally aspirated V10 engine that develops 640 hp. (565 Nm).

Modifications include rear-wheel drive and a fully controlled chassis. In addition, it boasts a completely retuned suspension with a wider rear track.

The special version has an individual set of driving modes: these are standard STO, Trofeo racing and Pioggia rain.

Plus, the developers provide the ability to completely disable the stabilization system.

From standstill to a hundred, the coupe “shoots” in 3.0 seconds, and the bar of 200 km / h submits in 9.0 seconds.

In both cases, the novelty is 0.1 s slower than the Performante version. The maximum speed is 310 km / h (- 15).

This version is aimed at connoisseurs of track supercars who want to buy a similar car, but which at the same time has access to public roads.
