The 360-horsepower Acura MDX Type S 2022 crossover is ready to hit the market.
In November 21 the Acura MDX 4 crossover has received «charged» version Type S. By the way, this is the first such modification in the line of Japanese brand.
This SUV is characterized by a more aggressive exterior design. The new Acura Type S has a new fine mesh radiator grille, through which the air passes 10% faster.
Plus, the new Acura has different bumpers, and the side air intakes in the front are fully functional — there are auxiliary radiators behind them.
«Hot» crossover is additionally notable for the presence of a spectacular exhaust system with four round spigots. The standard exterior chrome has been replaced with black inserts.
Leather upholstery of the seats, sports décor and steering wheel with a truncated rim are among the interior’s features.
For extra charge you can order wood veneer trim and front seats with massage function. The optional 1,000-watt sound system with 25 speakers will delight audiophiles.
In motion, the Acura in the new body is driven by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine, familiar from the Acura TLX Type S sedan.
This unit has direct injection and a single dual-flow turbocharger, and its output is 360 hp and 480 Nm.
It is known that the crossover will have a reconfigured ten-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive SH-AWD transmission with individual clutches to connect the rear wheels.
In the list of drive modes there is a new, the most extreme preset Sport+. Unfortunately, the dynamic characteristics of the model have not yet been announced.
Acura MDX Pipe S became the first all-terrain vehicle of the Japanese brand which received pneumatic suspension.
The latter allows you to change the ground clearance of the car in the range from 170 to 239 mm (the base model with a spring suspension ground clearance is fixed — 185 millimeters).
It is known that the chassis design has adaptive shock absorbers and other stabilizers, the thickness of which is slightly less than in the standard suspension.
To improve weight distribution the Japanese have also moved 12-volt battery from under the hood into the luggage compartment.
«Warmed up» crossover is placed on 21-inch wheels and has reinforced Brembo brakes with four-piston calipers on the front axle.
Sales of the model in the States will start in December 2021 at a price of $67,000 (4.8 million rubles at current exchange rates).
