More spacious interior and 380-horsepower engine: an extended version of the BMW X5 Li crossover is presented.

An updated version of the BMW X5 with an extended body has been revealed for the Chinese market.

It so happened that Western companies offer elongated versions of current models for the Chinese market.

A similar situation is presented with the BMW X5 2024, which here received the prefix «Li» in the title.

This indicates that this car is longer than the standard version.

Sales of the crossover will begin next month, but prices are still unknown.

As for the visual data, the BMW X5 Li did not receive any radical differences from the European variation.

The main change affected the design features, namely the dimensions. So, the length of the car is increased by 130 mm.

Due to this, much more space is provided inside, especially for passengers in the back row.

In addition, the door panels have been expanded, which makes getting in and out more comfortable.

The BMW X5 Li will be assembled in China at the BMW-Brilliance joint venture.

Technically, there is a choice. So, the crossover can be purchased with a two-liter engine for 258 horsepower or with a three-liter unit for 380 «horses».

Up to a hundred kilometers per hour, the crossover accelerates in 7.2 seconds with the base engine, but with the top-end unit, this figure is different — 5.5 seconds.

BMW has shared details on the 2024 X5 and X6.

Both models have only slightly changed on the outside — for example, the grille has changed, and the headlights have become thinner — the iDrive 8 digital cluster of two screens with a diagonal of 12.3 and 14.9 inches is now installed in the cabin.

The motor line has been updated much more seriously: with the transition to the next model year, the X5 and X6 lost non-electrified versions, so that only hybrids of different types remained in the range.

Another important nuance is that the modification of the M50i is now called the M60i.

Those engines that did not have an electric superstructure in the pre-reform X5 and X6 are now supplemented with a 48-volt starter-generator, which gives a short-term increase in power.

And the engines themselves have become more powerful: for example, the petrol «six» has added 47 forces and now it develops 380 forces.

Accordingly, cars have become more dynamic and spend 5.4 seconds to accelerate to “hundreds”.

In the case of the xDrive30d diesel modification, power increased to 298 hp and 670 Nm, and acceleration time was reduced to 6.1 seconds.

The mentioned top version of the M60i has changed not only the name, but also the engine.

This crossover is based on a completely new V8 4.4 unit (530 hp, 750 Nm), which debuted on the X7 M60i xDrive.

The rechargeable hybrid is equipped with a three-liter in-line “six”, which, paired with an electric motor built into an eight-speed automatic, develops 490 forces.

In this case, the increase in power amounted to 96 forces, and acceleration from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour takes 4.8 seconds against the previous 5.6.

The hybrid also has an increased capacity battery, on a single charge of which it can travel 110 kilometers instead of 94.

Among other changes, the list of electronic assistants has expanded, anti-roll bars have been improved, the number of physical buttons on the front panel and center console has been reduced, and new bumpers and upgraded optics have appeared.

Both new items will be on the assembly line of the American BMW plant in Spartanburg in April.

Prices for the local market have already been announced: X5 will cost the Americans at least $65,200 (4.6 million rubles at the current exchange rate), and X6 — $73,900 (5.2 million).

The top X6 M60i will cost $93,600 (6.6 million rubles).
