Cupra has unveiled the powerful Formentor VZ5 coupe-crossover.
This month, the presentation of the new high-performance crossover Cupra Formentor VZ5 is planned, which is equipped with a five-cylinder power unit from Audi.
On the eve of the release of the car, the developer decided to show for all to see a teaser on which the fresh model is clearly visible.
It is worth noting that the company itself, which previously belonged to the Spanish brand SEAT, has not yet disclosed information that their new cross will acquire an engine from Audi.
Cupra, previously separated by Seat into a separate sub-brand, has presented a «charged» version of its Formentor coupe-crossover — the VZ5 version.
Under the hood of the Formentor VZ5 is a 5-cylinder turbo engine of the EA855 series, which until now has only been used on Audi RS models.
It is a 2.5-liter TSI unit with 390 hp. and 480 Nm. At the same time, in current Audi cars, it produces 400 hp. The engine is paired with a 7-speed robotic DSG gearbox and 4Drive all-wheel drive with a clutch on the rear axle.
The Cupra Formentor VZ5 can accelerate from standstill to 100 km / h in 4.2 seconds versus 4.9 seconds for the version with the 2.0-liter TSI turbo four (310 hp).
The maximum speed is traditionally limited to 250 km / h. In addition, the crossover in the VZ5 modification received a retuned adaptive suspension with a ground clearance reduced by 10 mm and new front brakes with 6-piston calipers.
Akebono brakes with six-piston fixed calipers are installed on the front axle. The rear diffuser has a carbon fiber finish instead of glossy plastic trims.
Externally, the Formentor VZ5 differs from the standard coupe-crossover in special body colors, 20-inch wheels with a unique design, exterior and interior elements in copper and black, a new sports exhaust system and CUPBucket seats.
The interior features sports seats in a leather / Alcantara combination, dark aluminum trim and copper-colored accents, while CUPBucket bucket seats in blue and black nappa leather are available for a surcharge.

The VZ5 version differs from the regular Formentor with a radiator grill, front bumper, original 20-inch wheels, an exclusive Taiga Gray body color and exhaust pipes in the style of Lexus F-series.
The circulation of Cupra Formentor VZ5 will be only 7 thousand copies. The car will appear at dealers in Europe this fall.
The price promises to be immodest: about 58,000 euros (about 5.2 million rubles at the current exchange rate).
