Last year, the publication reported that the wonderful Kia Stinger may never receive a successor: the sports liftback simply did not sell in large quantities.

Now, however, the good news is that Kia has announced that the life cycle of the existing Stinger will be extended.

The Korean Automobile Blog reported that the base 2.0-liter engine will be replaced by a much more powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 421 Nm of torque.

These numbers are much better than the 2.0T’s 255bhp. and 352 Nm, which means that the base Stinger will be much more powerful than the BMW 330i, which also has 255 hp.

This more powerful 2.5T engine is already used in other vehicles such as the Genesis GV80 and Kia K5 GT.

It will be equipped with the Stinger GT Line, which will also receive improvements such as a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen providing navigation access, LED headlights and intelligent cruise control.

The Harman Kardon speaker system will be offered as part of an additional Sun & Sound package for $ 2300 (172 thousand rubles).

As before, the GT1 and GT2 trims will use the same twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engine, although it will slightly increase from 365 to 368 hp.

The new electronically controlled exhaust should amplify the roar of this V6 in Sport mode. The 2021 all-wheel drive Stinger sprints from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.7 seconds.

Other changes to the lineup will include new wheel designs, updated leather upholstery and improved safety technology.

The redesigned Stinger debuted last summer, and its main new feature is the 304 hp 2.5 T-GDI four-cylinder turbo engine. But in Russia there will be no cars with such an engine.

This is a turbo four 2.0 T-GDI in 197 and 247 horsepower variants, as well as a V6 3.3 T-GDI engine (370 hp).

All Stingers have an eight-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive with a limited-slip differential is available only in the basic version, the rest of the options are all-wheel drive, but only cars with a V6 engine have a self-block among them.

There are not so many other improvements. Even outwardly, the Stinger has been barely noticeably updated.

The main feature of the restyling is the taillights with a functional jumper between them (before this strip was just a decoration). The headlights and bumpers are nuanced, and the top GT gets larger tailpipes.

The cabin has a new media system with a 10.25-inch widescreen display and expanded functionality. The previous eight-inch screen is now basic, and the seven-inch touchscreen is no longer used.

Instead of the basic monochrome display of the trip computer, there is now a 4.2-inch color screen, although the expensive versions retain the seven-inch display.

The set of finishing materials has been revised, the set of Drive Wise electronic assistants has been expanded. Prices increased by 100-200 thousand rubles.

The basic Luxe equipment includes seven airbags, leatherette seat upholstery, three-zone climate control, an electric driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, light and rain sensors, a keyless entry system, a rear view camera, parking sensors, a remote engine start system, LED headlights and 18-inch wheels.

The Prestige version has genuine leather upholstery, projection headlights, motor sound synthesizer and wireless phone charger.

The Style version adds ventilation for the front and heated rear seats, an electric passenger seat, extended decor, a blind spot monitoring system, an electric fifth door, a Harman / Kardon sound system, and a 10.25-inch screen for the media system.

The GT Line equipment includes 19-inch wheels, a panoramic roof, a multi-contour driver’s seat, an electric steering column, a projection screen and all-round cameras.

For such a Stinger, you can order seat upholstery in red leather (free Red Line package) or Alcantara with red stitching (Suede package for 70 thousand rubles).

Finally, the top version of the Stinger GT features adaptive suspension, Brembo brakes and a full complement of electronic assistants (including adaptive cruise control).
