The Mazda MX-30 PHEV Hybrid crossover will have to wait.

Presumably the version of the model with a rotary engine will debut a year later: not in the first half of 2022, but in the spring of 2023.

Mazda MX-30 cross-coupe was presented in Europe in the fall of 2019 in a version of an all-electric parkette.

Then, in October 2020, the model debuted on the home market with a traditional gasoline powertrain.

The car is also presented in the U.S. — sales of «Japanese» began in October 2021.

Note that after the first six months of sales (available only in California) U.S. dealers have sold a total of 361 copies.

The results are so far modest, but that may change in the future.

Earlier it was reported that Mazda MX-30 will have the third option «stuffing» — a hybrid unit, based on a compact rotary piston motor of the new generation.

The MX-30 PHEV was supposed to debut in the first half of 2022, but now Automotive News reports that the novelty will premiere later in the second half of the current Mazda fiscal year: it ends March 31, 2023.

So, the hybrid variant, most likely, will be presented in March next year. Earlier, the company confirmed that such modification will get to the States, but then the terms were not called.

Earlier we told about Mazda hybrid power plant, which is based on rotary piston engine (RPM).

No details about the technical characteristics of this «stuffing» is not yet available.

It is known that the Japanese company spent at least six years on its development, in addition, it is assumed that the RAP will be used as an extension of electric range (probably it will not be directly connected with the wheels).

This information was also confirmed by the publication, citing the manufacturer’s representatives.

Let’s note, now in the American market the model is presented only as an «electric crossover».

This Mazda MX-30 is equipped with a single 143-horsepower electric motor (maximum torque — 265 Nm), which is located at the front.

The capacity of its traction battery is very modest — only 35.5 kWh. Cruising range according to the EPA cycle used in the U.S. is only 161 kilometers (the «European» cycle WLTP — 200 km).

In Japan, as we have already mentioned, the Parkett is available with a 2.0-liter gasoline «atmospheric» Skyactiv-G, its output is equal to 156 hp and 199 Nm of torque.

It works in conjunction with a six-speed hydro-mechanical «automatic» and low-voltage hybrid add-on in the form of a starter-generator (6.9 hp, 49 Nm), which helps the engine at peak loads. Drive is either front or all-wheel drive.

The small Mazda MX-30 is based on the same platform as the current generation Mazda 3, as well as the compact crossover MX-30.

Rear suspension in all versions, including all-wheel drive, is semi-independent, with a transverse torsion beam.

The MX-30 electric car has a starting price of $33,470 in the States.

Meanwhile, last week it became known that production of the Mazda CX-60 crossover has started in Japan: a version of the model designed for the Old World market debuted in early March of this year.
