Nissan 20-23 Concept: a futuristic hot hatch for the 20th anniversary of the brand’s London design studio.

London-based design studio Nissan Design Europe (NDE) celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. A conceptual three-door hatchback called “Concept 20-23” was prepared for this milestone date.

Interestingly, the number “20” is a direct reference to the anniversary, but “23” is the brand’s own number, which sounds like “ni-san” in Japanese.

While working on this project, young designers tried to imagine what the ideal electric car would be like in the megacities of the future.

They drew inspiration from virtual racing. Plus, some decisions were “seen” from the Formula E championship.

The developers classify the presented Nissan Concept 20-23 as part of the so-called “Pike cars” line of cars.

Its representatives are the Be-1, Figaro and S-Cargo small cars, which were produced by the Japanese company’s division of the same name in the 1990s.

Invented by London specialists, the hot hatch has cartoonish body proportions and a developed aerodynamic body kit, reminiscent of the body kits of rally cars.

The concept also attracts attention with LED semicircular headlights, and such optics make it similar to the latest Fiat models, as well as the Porsche Vision 357.

The car has numerous air ducts and ventilation slots, which adds aggression to its appearance. However, these elements are not just for the sake of beauty, but actually participate in cooling in one way or another.

For example, a narrow gap in the roof provides interior ventilation.

The side doors of the hatchback are made to lift up. When boarding the cabin, the driver and passenger will have to step over a hefty beam. The cockpit features racing bucket seats.

The steering wheel of the car is made in the form of a steering wheel and has a pair of displays that display only the most necessary information. There is no central console here as such.

Instead, there is a large opening in the front with carbon fiber brackets.

Most likely, the Nissan Concept 20-23 is just a show car and the Japanese will not launch it into series.

However, some of the solutions tested on it may then appear on the brand’s commercial vehicles.
