Nissan Qashqai e-Power 2023. This car of the Japanese brand will be released on the European market at the end of summer 2022.

Prices have not yet been revealed, they will be announced closer to the start of sales.

Production of the Nissan Qashqai crossover was launched in 2006, the main market for this model is Europe.

The current third-generation model was presented last February.

According to the CarSalesBase website, dealers sold 135,829 units during the «covid» year of 2020, which is 38% less than in 2019.

The negative trend continued last year, with customers buying 113,276 cars (down 16.6 percent from a year earlier).

Now the brand has introduced a new version of the crossover, the e-Power.

Sales of the current «third» Kashkaia started in the Old World last summer, the first to hit the market were «soft-hybrid» versions.

At their core is familiar from models of Renault «turbo four» with a volume of 1.3 liters: it works in tandem with a 12-volt starter generator and a small lithium-ion battery.

Gasoline engine has two variants of forcing — 140 and 158 hp, in the first case, the maximum torque is 240 Nm, such an engine is combined only with a six-speed «manual», in the second — 260 Nm in the case of the set with 6 MPP and 270 Nm — with a variator X-Tronic.

The Japanese company has prepared another version of Qashqai for the European market: it is equipped with a hybrid power unit e-Power.

It is worth noting that this system is not a novelty: in particular, back in 2016 it was received by Nissan Note.

Since then, the release of brand models in the e-Power version has been established not only in Japan, but also in China and Thailand.

For Europe, the new modification of the Kashkaia will be the first with this installation (the model will come off the conveyor of the British Nissan plant).

Previously published spy shots of prototypes of the new version of the model, and now the Nissan Qashqai e-Power is officially presented.

Visual differences from the exterior of this hybrid modification of pure gasoline versions are few: thus, this model has a different grille with a glossy black horizontal stripe at the top of the «grill». The interior, obviously, remained unchanged.

Qashqai e-Power is equipped with a hybrid power plant, the feature of which lies in the fact that the gasoline engine is not connected to the wheels: it serves as a generator of electricity, while the front wheels rotate the electric motor.

Qashqai e-Power installation includes a 156-horsepower 1,5-liter turbo engine with a variable compression ratio (as in Infiniti QX50 and QX55) and an electric motor with 188 hp.

There is no electric motor on the rear axis for the Kashkai, so this crossover has no full drive.

The car has a mode e-Pedal (control of acceleration and braking is made only with the accelerator pedal).

The capacity of traction battery is not opened in the company, it is impossible to recharge it from the electric network, it is fed only at the expense of the motor.

The average fuel consumption of Nissan Qashqai e-Power is 5.3 liters per hundred kilometers.

For comparison, the gasoline version with 158-horsepower turbocharged 1.3 liter engine and a variator, this figure is 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers (calculated according to the cycle WLTP).

On the European market this version of the car Japanese brand will be released in late summer 2022. Qashqai e-Power prices have not yet been disclosed, they will be announced closer to the start of sales.

We note that in the Russian Federation Qashqai is one of the best-selling cars in the country: it almost never leaves the top 25 most popular models in the country.

Its production is set up at the St. Petersburg plant; however, due to the current geopolitical turmoil, it may be discontinued in the near future.
