The Toyota Land Cruiser 70 makes a triumphant return, reimagined as a modern marvel, retaining its legendary off-road capabilities and incorporating modern enhancements.
Its sales will start in Japan on November 29.
Thanks to its timeless design and dimensions, the new Land Cruiser 70 is ready to conquer any terrain.
An impressive 2730mm wheelbase ensures stability and agility, while a comfortable approach angle of 33 and departure angle of 26 ensures that no obstacle is too challenging.
In addition, the tight turning radius of 6.3 m allows you to maneuver nimbly in tight spaces.
Beneath the Land Cruiser 70’s rugged exterior lies a durable suspension that can cope with the most challenging road conditions.
Front coil springs and rear leaf springs provide the support and flexibility you need for off-road driving.
The car is equipped with a modern 4-cylinder diesel engine (1GD-FTV) with a capacity of 2.8 liters, developing an impressive power of 204 hp. and torque 500 Nm.
This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission to deliver smooth and efficient power delivery.
When it comes to off-road capabilities, the Land Cruiser 70 doesn’t disappoint.
It features part-time all-wheel drive with hill-start assist, stability control and active traction control.

The debut of the classic Land Cruiser 70 took place simultaneously with the all-new fifth generation Toyota Prado J250.
So, the Land Cruiser 70 changes its appearance for the second time in its life cycle, the first restyling happened in 2007, then the SUV received rectangular optics (in the style of modern Land Cruisers) and, in general, a more modern “plump” appearance (by the standards of the 2000s).
And this time the designers decided to return to the roots: the round lights were returned, and the turn signals are now installed separately (as in the 1984 model), the radiator grille was also changed, on which now instead of the brand emblem there is a large TOYOTA inscription. In general, the classic retro look has returned.
Important changes have also occurred under the hood. The range of the updated Toyota Land Cruiser 70 2024 has added a modern turbodiesel — 2.8 1GD-FTV with a power of 204 hp and 500 Hm (the unit is familiar from the Toyota Prado J150 and Toyota Hilux pickup models).
The new engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. By the way, the last time an automatic transmission was installed on the Land Cruiser 70 was in 2004!
The previous engine is also retained in the range; let us remind you that this is a diesel V8 4.5 (205 hp and 430 Hm) paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
The updated Toyota Land Cruiser 70 2024 is equipped with a rigidly connected Part Time all-wheel drive (via a separate mechanical lever) and two solid axles.
The modernized Toyota Land Cruiser 70 2024 is offered in the form of a five-door classic SUV, as well as a special version of the Troop Carrier (a refrigerated vehicle for transporting medical vaccines) and two pickups (with a single-row and a double-row cab).
Also, after a long break, the Land Cruiser 70 returns to the market of its native Japan. But still, the priority market for the model is Australia, where the SUV is presented in all variants
