Since 1996, 7.15 million Skoda Octavia cars of four generations have already been sold around the world.

The last of them was presented in 2019, and now the time has come for a planned restyling: both liftbacks and station wagons made their debut at the same time.

The main external difference was the changed headlights, in which the running light sections are now not L-shaped, but L-shaped.

And although the Octavia still has two headlights, those sections located near the radiator grille are now shaped like the “four-eyed” restyled model of the previous generation A7.

For an additional fee, second-generation adaptive matrix lighting technology with two LED modules is offered. But there are no more separate fog lights.

The rear lights are now fully LED as standard, and welcome and farewell animations are available for an additional fee.

The bumpers have been changed, as a result, liftbacks and station wagons have grown in length to 4698 mm (by 9 mm).

From now on, wheels are only alloy, with a diameter of 16 to 19 inches. There are ten exterior paint colors to choose from.

The interior has not changed much, but the Octavia no longer has analog instruments: standard equipment includes 10-inch digital instrumentation screens and a media system.

The ChatGPT artificial intelligence integrated into the voice assistant has appeared.

Dual-zone climate control also does not require additional payment, unlike the new 13-inch multimedia screen.

Other options include 15-watt wireless charging and 45-watt USB-C ports. In total, nine design and interior trim options are offered for the updated family, including a new cognac color.

All materials are strictly environmentally friendly: recycled fabric, artificial leather and plastic, even used in Simply Clever branded accessories.

Like the Golf, the junior 1.0 TSI petrol turbo engine has disappeared from the engine range.

Instead, there is now a derated version of the 1.5 TSI four-cylinder engine (115 hp, 220 Nm).

The same engine is still offered in a more powerful version with 150 hp. and 250 Nm.

The choice is a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DSG robotic transmission, and in the second case, a 48-volt starter-generator with a belt drive and a lithium-ion battery is included in the load.

The 2.0 TDI turbodiesel still has two versions, but they are now strictly separated by transmission type.

Base diesel 115 hp. and 300 Nm is combined only with “mechanics”, and the option with output is 150 hp. and 360 Nm — only with the DSG robot.

And the only all-wheel drive Octavia is now offered with a 2.0 TSI petrol turbo engine, the power of which has been increased from 190 to 204 hp. (torque 320 Nm as before), and a DSG gearbox.

The Skoda Octavia RS, which stands apart, has lost its 200-horsepower diesel engine, all-wheel drive, and even a manual transmission.

But the 2.0 TSI petrol turbo engine now develops 265 hp. (+20 hp) and 370 Nm, working in tandem with a non-alternative seven-speed DSG “robot”.

The sports suspension is lowered by 15 mm relative to the base Octavia.

Only for the RS version you can order 19-inch wheels (standard ones are an inch smaller), and matrix headlights and sports buckets are included by default.

Thus, the update has not yet reached the rechargeable hybrids Octavia iV and the Octavia Scout cross-wagon.

Accepting orders for the already declassified restyled models will open at the end of February.
