Audi A6 e-tron 2022.

Audi showed what will be the next generation A6.
The forerunner of the production model was the A6 e-tron concept car, which debuted in Shanghai.

Audi has brought the concept A6 e-tron to the Shanghai Motor Show, a harbinger of the next-generation production A6. The automaker promises a similarity of up to 95 percent.

The four-door liftback, or as it is called in the Sportback company itself, is the first Audi to be built on the new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) electric platform.

The concept is larger than the current A6: it is longer, wider and taller, and the rims are 22 inches. The drag coefficient is 0.22, which is only slightly higher than that of the Mercedes-Benz EQS (0.20).

The A6 e-tron has cameras instead of exterior mirrors, retractable door handles and special matrix headlights that can project navigation clues onto the road or information about the remaining battery charge, for example, on a wall. Whether this technology will get the production car, Audi does not specify.

The Audi A6 e-tron is powered by a twin-engine unit (one electric motor each on the front and rear axles).

The total power of the electric motors reaches 476 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. From zero to 100 kilometers per hour, the electric liftback accelerates in less than four seconds.

The battery capacity is 100 kilowatt-hours, it provides a power reserve of up to 700 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.

Express charge from five to 80 percent takes about 25 minutes, and in 10 minutes you can increase the mileage by about 300 kilometers.

The debut of the production Audi A6 of the new generation will take place in the second half of 2022, and the model will go on sale in early 2023. Production is organized at factories in Germany and China.

As you know, the Audi A6 model is sold in various modifications. So, in addition to the standard sedan, there is also a version with an extended wheelbase, which is available exclusively in China.

But as it turned out, the manufacturer decided not to stop there and at the Shanghai Motor Show presented another version of the A6, or rather its concept.

First, let’s say right away that it will be an all-electric model with an A5 or A7 style liftback. The presented A6 e-tron concept car features extremely low ground clearance, massive 22-inch wheels, a clean side profile and rear-view cameras that replace standard mirrors.

In addition, there are no door handles on the model. They will probably be retractable. The length of the new item is 4.96 meters, the width is 1.96 meters, and the height is 1.44 meters. These dimensions are roughly comparable to those of the A7 Sportback.

At the front are impressively slim matrix LED headlights. At the back of the A6 e-tron concept is a wide LED panel with digital OLED elements similar to the Q5.

According to Audi, this technology offers virtually unlimited customization options for the interior LED headlight pattern.

As previously expected, the concept is based on the new PPE platform developed by Audi and Porsche.

The latter will also build the next generation Macan on this architecture. We now know that the new product from Audi will be offered with two 470 hp electric motors. and 800 N * m of torque.

According to the manufacturer, this is enough for the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 4 seconds.

The presented concept has quite impressive equipment, among which the Quattro all-wheel drive system and air suspension can be distinguished.

A battery pack with a high energy content is installed between the axles of the vehicle for better weight distribution.

With its help, the model will be able to travel more than 700 km without recharging. These truly impressive numbers were made possible not only by the battery pack, but also by the aerodynamic body with a drag coefficient of 0.22.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer is not yet ready to show the interior of the car, but it is stated that it will be equipped with the most advanced technology.

How much the concept car will ultimately differ from the production version of the A6 e-tron, it will be possible to find out only next year, when the first public copies should appear.
