Audi RS7 Sportback 2021: an alternative to the RS6 wagon For the Frankfurt motor show, the Germans have prepared a «charged» liftback Audi RS7 Sportback 2021 of the second generation, which joined the RS6 Avant C8 wagon, which was declassified a little earlier.
Both cars made their debut at the exhibition at the same time. In terms of design, the new Audi RS7 Sportback 2021 model differs from the original Audi A7 in a glossy black radiator grille and a more «evil» front bumper with a splitter at the bottom and large side sections, in which vertical jumpers are prescribed.
The fenders were also widened on the car, but the overall increase in width here was 42 mm versus 80 mm, for which the RS6 was bought.
At the same time, the hood, roof, front doors and trunk lid for the «er-es-seventh» completely migrated from the standard A7.
Other distinguishing features of the new RS7 are specially designed 21-inch wheels (available in 22 ″ for a surcharge), dark gray mirror caps and an advanced diffuser in the rear bumper, also sporting two large oval exhaust pipes, framed by a curved trim.
Inside the Audi RS7, the Sportback is greeted with sports seats with exclusive stitching, a steering wheel with a rim truncated at the bottom, metal pedals, characteristic decor in the interior decoration and a special design on the electronic dashboard.
In addition, from now on, the car can be ordered with a one-piece rear sofa, while the predecessor was exclusively for four.
Specifications
Under the hood of the Audi RS7 Sportback in a new body is an upgraded 4.0-liter TFSI petrol V8 with dual supercharging, the output of which has been increased from 560 hp. and 700 Nm to 600 «horses» and 800 Nm of torque.
It is paired with an 8-band automatic transmission and a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system with a center differential.
When the quick start function is activated, the car needs 3.6 seconds (- 0.3 seconds) to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h, and the default maximum speed is limited to 250 kilometers per hour.
The Dynamic and Dynamic Plus packages are optionally offered, in the presence of which the top speed will be increased to 280 or 305 km / h, respectively.
Among other things, the engine here was equipped with the function of deactivating half of the cylinders at low loads, which saves fuel, plus a hybrid superstructure appeared in the form of a 16 hp belt starter-generator operating from a 48-volt network, which helps in the first seconds of acceleration and responds for a quick start of the internal combustion engine during the operation of the «start / stop» function.
The all-wheel drive transmission on the Audi RS7 Sportback by default distributes traction between the axles in a ratio of 40:60 (in favor of the rear), but, depending on road conditions, up to 70% of the moment can be transmitted to the front, and up to 85 percent to the rear.
The drive electronics provides six driving modes: comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency, as well as customizable RS1 and RS2.
Already at the base of the car, air suspension is relied on (electronically controlled Dynamic Ride Control shock absorbers are available for an additional charge), and in its initial position, the ground clearance is 20 mm lower than on the standard A7. Upon reaching 120 km / h, the ground clearance is reduced by another 10 mm (at 100 km / h, the retractable rear spoiler is activated), and on a bad road, the body, on the contrary, can be raised by 20 mm.
In addition, among other options for the model, a full-steering chassis is available (the rear wheels turn at a small angle to improve maneuverability at low speeds and for greater stability in corners — at high speeds), an active rear differential and carbon-ceramic brakes, which are also 34 kg lighter than usual.
Price.
The price of the new Audi A7 Sportback II has not yet been announced, the start of sales of the car in Europe is scheduled for the end of the nineteenth — simultaneously with the RS6 wagon. Both cars will reach Russia approximately in the first quarter of 2021.
