The most powerful Cadillac Escalade-V with 691-horsepower engine from Camaro ZL1 is presented.
This is the first time the SUV has got the V-version — previously only the passenger cars had it.
Cadillac expands the line of «charged» models with prefix V — for the first time it got Escalade, which the company calls «the most powerful full-size SUV».
This car will be available not only with a standard body, but also in long wheelbase, and under the hood of it — 6.2-liter «eight», familiar from the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, which was forced to 691 horsepower.
The fifth-generation Escalade debuted in early 2020 and today remains the leader in the premium full-size SUV segment in the U.S. market, overtaking the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, Range Rover and Lexus LX in sales.
To consolidate the success of the model, General Motors has decided to expand the Escalade range with the most powerful version with the prefix V — before Cadillac crossovers and SUVs did not have such an option.
For «charged» Escalade have prepared compressor LT4 V8.
Volume of the drive supercharger Eaton, which can spin up to 13500 rpm, increased from 1.7 to 2.65 liters, resulting in an output increased from 677 to 691 horsepower, making the Escalade-V the most powerful production Cadillac.
The engine works in tandem with an enhanced ten-speed automatic and all-wheel drive with a clutch on the front axle.
From 0 to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) Cadillac Escalade-V accelerates in 4.4 seconds, that is, it is one and a half seconds faster than the base SUV.
The classic quarter-mile (402-meter) run takes 12.74 seconds to reach 177 kilometers per hour.
The Escalade-V features an electronically locking rear differential, an air suspension with Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 adaptive dampers, a sport exhaust system, Brembo six-piston brakes and a V-Mode — which reduces ground clearance by 20 millimeters.
Externally, the most powerful Escalade can be distinguished from the standard by different tailpipes, glossy black decor, which has replaced the chrome, and 22-inch wheels V-Series.
Interior trim uses leather and wood, and the equipment list includes a 36-speaker AKG Studio Reference audio system, the signature Super Cruise semi-autopilot, and front seats with massage and ventilation.
American dealers Cadillac Escalade-V will arrive closer to the end of the summer, and its cost will be about 150 thousand dollars (9.9 million rubles) compared with 85 thousand dollars (5.6 million) for the base Escalade with an atmospheric «eight».
The model won’t officially appear in Russia, as General Motors announced earlier this spring that it would cease business in our country.
