Compared to its predecessor, the appearance of the new Chevrolet Corvette 2021 (photo and price) has become more aggressive. The supercar received a new front bumper with massive side sections of air intakes, as well as a different grille.

The shape of the two-door LED headlights has become more teardrop-shaped, and the hood has lost the air intake, but has received several eyebrow punch marks designed to emphasize the harsh look of the head optics.

The silhouette of the model has also undergone changes. The designers moved the cab forward (400 mm) and also smoothed the roofline. Large air intakes appeared on the sidewalls, although it was decided to abandon the ventilation slots behind the front wheels.

As for the stern, the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray has a more elegant spoiler, new LED lights and four square exhaust pipes. The latter are no longer grouped in the center, but spread out on the sides.

Two and a half months after the presentation of the new Corvette, the manufacturer announced its version in the body of a roadster, and from now on the Chevrolet Corvette C8 Convertible has acquired a folding hard top, which has replaced the soft roof.

Unlike the targa, there is a different rear fairing (without glass) and two «humps» that play the role of protective arcs.

Six electric motors are responsible for the transformation of the top, folding and unfolding it in 16.0 seconds, and this can be done at speeds up to 48 km / h.

The developers note that they have tried to bring the quality of the interior of the Corvette C8 to a fundamentally new level, using natural leather and expensive plastic.

Plus, a wide range of personalization options are offered for the car: customers can choose from three seat options and six interior color schemes.

With the change of generations, the supercar acquired a 12.0-inch virtual instrument panel with the ability to customize the style of the displayed information.

The tablet-shaped multimedia screen is located at the top of the center console and is deployed towards the driver.

At the same time, along the central tunnel, separating the driver’s and passenger’s seats, there is a strip of «hot» keys.

The car has a stylish three-spoke steering wheel with a truncated rim and a zero mark. Music lovers will surely appreciate the Bose premium audio system, which can be ordered with 10 or 14 speakers.


It is interesting that if on all previous versions of the Corvette the engine was located in front, then the new product has a mid-engine layout.

General Motors engineers explain this step by the fact that all the juices have been squeezed out of the previous platform, and the moment has come to move forward.

The body of the new model is a sturdy frame made mainly of aluminum, with fiberglass panels hung on it. Only the cross member, hidden under the rear bumper cover, is made of durable and lightweight carbon fiber.

The base 2021 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray has a targa body with a removable roof panel. The latter can be stowed away in the rear storage compartment.

Plus there is another trunk in the front. Both compartments are made of fiberglass, and their total volume reaches 357 liters.

The new Corvette C8 body is based on a completely different chassis, on both axles of which double wishbones with springs are installed.

For a surcharge, you can order front shock absorbers that can raise the «nose» of the car by 50 mm, which is useful when driving over irregularities.

The 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (performance) is powered by a 6.2-liter aspirated LT2 V8 developing 502 hp. and 637 Nm. The upgraded engine has two valves per cylinder, direct fuel injection, and a half-cylinder shutdown system.

Also, for the first time, the engine received a dry sump lubrication system, thanks to which it is possible to avoid oil starvation at lateral overloads of more than 1g.

The engine is located longitudinally — just behind the seats, and it is paired with a Tremec 8-band preselective robot with two wet clutches.

There will be no more mechanics and automatic transmissions. The steering gear of the sports car has become a little shorter (the developers have reduced its gear ratio from 16.25 to 15.7: 1), and also 50% stiffer.

These changes are intended to improve control accuracy. There are also electrically boosted brakes, with four-piston mechanisms on all wheels and fixed calipers at the back.

In addition to the four familiar driving electronics modes (Sport, Track, Tour and Weather), two more are added: MyMode and Z Mode, which the driver can use to activate individual settings for the engine, gearbox and chassis.

For the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8, the Z51 Performance «track» package was immediately prepared.

It provides a developed front splitter and rear spoiler, as well as wider tires.

The package also includes adaptive Magnetic Ride dampers, a more efficient cooling system, a different exhaust system, as well as front brakes with fixed calipers and an electronically controlled differential lock.

The Corvette Stingray Z51 Performance is reported to accelerate from zero to 60 mph (97 km / h) in less than 3.0 seconds (top speed reaches 312 km / h), while the dynamics of the regular model and roadster have not yet been specified.

Serial production of the new Corvette was established at the Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

The start of sales of the model in the US is scheduled for the end of autumn 2019, the price of the basic version of the 1LT starts at $ 59,995 (surcharge for the Convertible version is $ 7,500).

Later, the supercar will appear in a number of other markets, but alas, there are no plans for the supply of the model to Russia yet.

The initial equipment includes electric seat adjustment, electronic tidy on a 12-inch display, multimedia with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Bose music with 10 speakers and a leather interior.

The 2LT version (from $ 67,295) is supplemented with a rearview camera, electric folding mirrors, frontal projection, track recorder, fourteen speakers and blind spot monitoring systems, as well as interference detection when reversing.

3LT execution (from $ 71,945) sports expensive Nappa leather and carbon fiber inserts in the cabin.
