Citroen C4 X 2022. The cars of cross-sedan format are very rare, but Russian car enthusiasts may immediately think of Lada Vesta Cross, fans of the Swedish brand Volvo — «elevated» sedan S60 Cross Country, and in the near future these cars will be joined by a representative of the C4 X family from Citroen.

As before, the car is based on the hatchback with the same name, but if before such sedans differed only by elongated back part of the body, the Citroen C4 X version will be associated with «cross» concept, which means «offroad» plastic bodykit.

And what about the clearance? Unfortunately, black plates covering the bottom part of body panels of a sedan will become the unique chip of the exterior, as ground clearance of the car remains the same, as in a hatch — 156 mm.

But this version will have a sloping roof, which will help to improve aerodynamics: the sedan noticeably gains from its donor in drag coefficient: 0,29 vs. 0,32.

The main difference, of course, will be the trunk, useful volume of which due to the appearance of the «tail» will grow from 380 to 510 liters.

External design

Citroen C4 has not changed stylistically: designers had only to work out architecture of the back, where original lamps, as well as hatchback’s, coming with their «tentacles» on rear wings settled down.

At the front the same two-storeyed optics, and in the frontal dodger and on the sills there are still contrasting overlays.

In this case, the cross-sedan C4 X received a completely redesigned rear bumper with a different shaped diffuser and spaced around the edges of the reflectors.

The bumper also took the license plate, which allowed to place behind the trunk lid not only the company logo, but also an alphabetical name of the brand.

Interior

Changes in interior are reduced to installation of the newest media complex MyCitroen Drive Plus, which previously reached only the cross-car Citroen C5 X.

Besides, three-volume body has allowed increasing angle of a back of a back sofa (up to 27o).

Other attributes of interior and equipment are the same as in the hatchback: virtual instrument panel, projection display, 10-inch screen of the media system and compact selector of transmission.

As an option, the sedan will offer a massage function for the front seats and electric heated steering wheel.

Technical stuffing and characteristics

The Citroen C4 X 2022 will be available in various markets around the world, and the basis of the range of versions will consist of cars with petrol «triplets» 1.2 PureTech and turbo-diesel 1.5 BlueHDi.

Available transmissions are manual and automatic. And in Europe, the manufacturer is going to promote an electric version of the ё-C4 X with a 136-horsepower motor, 50 kW∙h battery and a 100 kW charger.

The hatchback also has such a version, but its autonomous range due to worse aerodynamics is slightly lower — 350 km instead of 360 km for the sedan.

Prices and sales launch

Citroen C4 X 2022 cross sedan will go on sale in the fall, and the first market for it will be European, where hatchbacks are offered — gasoline for 22.9 thousand euros, and electric for 35.3 thousand.

Assembly of cars will be taken over by the Spanish plant Stellantis, where all cars of the C4 family leave the assembly line.
