HYUNDAI unveiled the 680-horsepower N VISION 74 2022 hydrogen concept car.

Hyundai today unveiled its latest N Vision 74 sports concept car.

Inspired by a car that never existed, it shows what Hyundai engineers are thinking about the future of the brand’s vehicles.

The Hyundai N Vision 74 pays homage to the 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe, a concept car designed by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro.

The young automaker’s vision of what a sports car might have looked like in the mid-1970s was never actually put into production.

Now the company is correcting that mistake with a new retro-futuristic model. Half concept car, half technology showcase.

The car showcases futuristic sci-fi technology that the company’s engineers hope to turn into a scientific reality.

The N Vision 74 features a hybrid hydrogen drivetrain that combines a battery-electric drive system with a hydrogen fuel cell.

The automaker says the setup gives the car superior cooling efficiency and also provides two different drive systems depending on conditions.

Hyundai has unveiled the hydrogen-powered N Vision 74 concept, designed to demonstrate how the South Korean brand’s experts see cars of the future.

It is interesting that design of this novelty has something in common with another concept — Hyundai Pony Coupe of the sample of 1974.

Italian Giorgetto Giugiaro had a hand in its creation, but the car was never put into mass production.

Hyundai N Vision 74 has quite modern, and sometimes even futuristic appearance, but one cannot do without retro-solutions.

For example, Koreans specially tried to make the car body more angular.

The car has received spectacular LED headlights, and the drawing thereof is stylized as retro again.

Unfortunately, there are no pictures of the interior, but inside there is a balance between futuristic and vintage solutions.

In particular, the Koreans saved a necessary set of analog buttons, but did not forget about the digital displays.

The N Vision 74 Concept is powered by a hybrid power plant, which can operate both on electricity and hydrogen.

Korean engineers point out that it has an excellent cooling system.

The ability to use two types of fuel makes it very versatile.

Note that the concept is equipped with electric motors, which together make 680 hp and 900 Nm.

Acceleration time from 0-100 km/h is not disclosed, but the top speed is known — 250 km/h.

According to the Koreans, the show car can boast of excellent controllability and shows itself perfectly on sharp turns, that is suitable for drifting.

Claimed range is more than 600 km. It is reported that it takes only 5 minutes to fill the fuel tank with hydrogen.

The concept car’s onboard power grid operates at 800 volts, which also facilitates quick charging of a 62.4-kWh battery.
